Hey, everybody. I am off work 12/23 through 1/1, and my headlight project is complete, so I wondered if anyone might be interested in an unscheduled trail ride on a non-holiday date. Post up availability and trail suggestions if you are!

I understand there are some others interested in attending from up north, so we will meet at the Mountain Communities Volunteer Fire Department, 15000 Westcreek Rd, Woodland Park, CO 80863, at 8:00am on the 29th. We will depart for the Gulches at 8:15am.
Hey guys - thanks for the update. I'm planning to tag along, as is Paul (blue tacoma) and he might have a friend or two as well. We'll be happy to either head ahead or lag behind a little to avoid cluttering up the ride too much.

It was a great day with a great crew. David is going to post his traditional recap, so ill just stick to some pictures.
Here's David struggling to get up the hill to the big slab Rock on Metberry. I had to lock my rear diff at the same point.

Today I found the source of my weird thumping in the rear - the rear axle was pounding on my custom exhaust. I made this worse when I backed into the boulder, turning around at the slab Rock on Longwater, and pushed it up against the body. Looks like my exhaust rework just got moved up on the calendar... going to start with Bud's... any other suggestions?

Bud’s did my exhaust years ago after I collapsed my muffler on Blanca. They did a great job!
We had a great day. From CLC we had Vic, Dave H, and David M. Down from Denver was Chris and his son in a LX470, Chris's friends form the springs Paul and his son in a Tacoma and Colin and Lisa in a Jeep. We met at the West Creek Fire station and traveled south on 51 to Metberry gulch. Road was snowy and easily passable. We got to the river and had an early lunch. Chris and his friends decided to stay a while and let the kids roast hotdogs. Vic, Dave and David went out Metberry and drove Longwater to the big rock obstacle and then Hackett to the rock obstacle. We then took 51 on South to come out at Florrisant.
We all had a great time. We did have some minor drama getting across the creek near the entrance/exit to metberry. My 100 managed to (eventually) get across, though it took several tries and a locker. The jeep got most of the way across then straight bottomed out, and I winched him through the rest of the way. Then the taco simply couldn't get enough track to climb out, and Paul winched himself out.
Light was failing as we were heading down the main road back towards West Creek, when I started smelling a rather strong burning smell. Since I was leading, I did a quick stop to check for any issues, and quickly heard a nasty skipping/banging noise from under the hood. I killed the engine then broke out a flash light, and found that my tensioner pulley bearing had mostly seized and was melting the serpentine belt.
For whatever reason, that's a spare I carry with me. Fortunately, the pulley bolts and bearings was the same between what was on the 100 and the spare I carried, so I just had to remove the serpentine belt, unbolt the (very very hot) old pulley, and bolt on the (much much cooler) new pulley. Probably took us fifteen minutes! Could've been worse.
