Just having trouble finding a definitive answer elsewhere on the forums. Are the OEM 16 and 18 inch wheels forged or cast? Just wanted to know whether sticking with oem is better than having to spend a lot on the TRD forged wheels. Also, I saw on tire rack some wheels with a good offset for me, but they are cast. Is this really bad for off roading? I was thinking about possibly going 285/75/18 and wanted 25mm offset to potentially avoid the need for spacers. Thanks

Cast. Oem wheels are preferred by most owners as they are strong and inexpensive options for off road and overlanding use.

Forged tends to be more expensive as the process takes a lot of energy and time.

About the weight difference between cast and forged? Forged is about 15-20% lighter and can be a big difference in wheel to wheel/time attack racing, but not in overlanding or rock crawling.

Part of the forged advantage, in my mind, is strength. With a low profile tire, wheel strength matters quite a bit. Cheap/weak wheels can crack and fail on potholes, speed bumps, etc... On the 100 you typically have a very high profile tire. That greatly reduces forces on the wheel and really lessens the need for strong wheels.

I'd go cast for anything on a 100, unless you have a line on a very good deal on something forged.

My understanding is forged have greater strength:weight ratio. Rock Warriors are definitely lighter. Stronger? Can’t say. OEM is surely best cost:quality. No reason to change unless you’re looking for a specific size or offset.

The funny thing is these are cast too. I think it all comes down to load rating, manufacturer quality and not buying Rotas. I can't say I've ever seen a picture of a broken wheel on a Toyota - plenty of broken axles, LBJs etc but no wheels

Rock warrior wheels are lighter weight than oem?
