Hello, I am new to the forum and have the first of a lot of questions.

Yesterday I bought a 2004 Land Cruiser. So far I love it. Today while trying to learn where everything was, I found I am missing the factory Jack and Tools. I looked on stealbay But could not find anything. Is wrecking yard my best option or is there someone here that has a set they want to sell?

Thanks

Bert

Howdy Bert. Welcome to Mud. We have a classified section here and you may get lucky on a set but I haven't seen many listed. I would check car-part.com That is a good site for car wreckers. I just checked and I see several places that show to have the jack and tool kit for $50-100 plus shipping. Good luck

Once you get a set of the tire tools make sure you remove the spare, check it for air, it's date code, is it road worthy and lube the winch mechinism.

Thank you Sun Devil. I will get on and try an find something now!

Spike, that is exactly what I was hoping to do yesterday! I will find the parts and make sure they work and my spare is good!

Thank you both for your help!!

I had the same issue. If you look on line there are Toyota dealers who will sell you the parts at 10% over cost. Manhattan beach or Olathe have great wholesale operations and will ship them to your door. I had the jack so I was lucky that I only needed the tools.

Thanks RK, I will try my local LKQ Wrecking yard this AM and see if they can help me out. If not, I will be on the web looking at those wholesalers.

Thank You!!

Local LKQ said they have several tool and jack sets out of 4Runners. Does anyone know if they wAre the same? Tools and Jack is $45 plus tax. Price seems good. If anyone knows if they are the same I would love to hear from you. If not, I guess we will find out by the end the week. They are sending me a set. Said if they don’t work they will refung me.

Thanks Sun Devil,

I have read through that conversation and it sounds like I will be OK with a 4Runner jack. Honestly, the Jack to me is the easy part. I am concerned about the tool to lower the spare tire. I bought my truck from a dealer but have to wonder why someone removed all the tools from where they go. Maybe they had a box or something in the back that prevented them from being able to open the tool compartment door so they placed them in the box and forgot to put them back in the truck when it was traded in.

At any rate, I will have answers this week and will post what I learn.

Thanks for your help thus far!! As I said, I am new to Toyota's. I have had two Land Rover's. The first one was great! Bought it used for an off road machine. It worked well for my needs until my wife decided she wanted to make it a daily driver. Then she wanted to trade it in on a newer one. We got a 2006. She drove it for 9 months before it caught on fire and totaled the car. I don't like Land Rovers anymore.

Follow up:

LKQ did come through. Full tool kit and Jack for just under $50 bucks. Everything works as it should. I will lower the tire on a warmer/dryer day. It is snowy today.

Thanks to all that offered advice and assistance!!!

When you lower the tire check the size and directionality as well as the tread and air pressure. I made the mistake of only checking tread and that it was holding pressure, even after lowering it a couple of times to work on the rear suspension. When it came time to put the spare into play I was in the middle of nowhere Patagonia and I quickly realized that although it had good tread and pressure (I already knew it was a street tire and not a match to the other 4) it was slightly larger than the others and also a directional tire. Lucklly it was a right side tire and the rear right tire had just exploded.
