I was talking to someone from Japan via IG the other day and they were asking how to install a factory tire carrier when his 80 didn't come with one. I am glad this thread came back to the front page, I sent him the link to this thread.

View of brackets and carrier for fitment.
The long bolts go through the inner D pillar for the top fitting as most of the load is there when it is open.
I can hang off it when it is open with no affect/deflection. I’m 185lbs.
Nutserts are inserted with epoxy thicker with milled fibers then set. After they are installed they are once again potted with epoxy and milled fibers.
