OEM Floor Mat

Has anyone tried the still available 79 -82 OEM floor mat in an earlier model, say 77 or 78? I know the color is different (gray vs black) but otherwise is it a good fit. I know they are pricy but if they fit I would consider getting one while they are still available.

I'd wager to guess the fit is different, given the late model 40's have the gas tank under the floor all the way across the cruiser, so there is a large hump. I have seen the older 77/78 style mats come up for sale quite often, I'd keep my eyes out for one of those and have it fit for sure. Just a suggestion, due to the fact that the late model floors are drastically different (e-brake, etc....)

different....won't work....or at least won't work well. Tranny hump is different, gas tank in different location, e-brake location is different. Hold out for one that goes to your year truck, you'll be glad you did....and be sure to pull all the felt off the back (rust creator) before you put it in.

i ended up buying the ones (3 piece set) from cool cruisers of taiwan for my 76. they actually fit nice and are fairly thick and i bought there insulation kit too. Floor Mats FJ40

WOW, $545. That would pay to Rino or X-Line the floor/interior and then you wouldn't need a mat and would last a lot longer.

I bought their one-piece molded and it fit like crap. Why was I not suprised?

yeah they aint cheap! but i bought mine about 3 years back for about half that and it was on sale at the time too. but i really like it and it helped with heat and road noise. and actually the one he needs is $471.00

whats the factory one go for ? (79 & up)

The 79 and up OEM mat is $279. My 32 year old mat is still in great shape except for the driver floor so I know the still available one would be a quality mat. I had forgotten about the change in the gas tanks. I think I have only ever seen one 40 newer than 78.

there are two listed for the newer floor mat...i dont know what the difference is between them ...or...if they are still infact available....but...the numbers still come up...you may want to enquirer with your toyota dealer or cdan...
