OEM Fender Flares

Hey everyone, I’m new to the 80 Series group and I recently purchased a 1997 model from from a member here that made the whole process smooth and was a pleasure to deal with.

I’ve been doing some research on installing OEM fender flares, but I was wondering if anyone here has already gone through this process. If so, would you mind sharing a complete list of the parts needed and how difficult the installation was? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Also, while I’m planning to install OEM fender flares, I was wondering if there are any good alternatives that still have that OEM look. If anyone has suggestions for something that would fit well and look similar to the original, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Your best bet is to find someone who has removed their flares (there are a lot of people out there who don't; want them, or the running boards) and buy them.

If you buy new flares, you'll have to have them painted, they are not supplied in body colors anymore (except white). Then you need at least the pad:

The "A0" suffix is the color code for white; this will get you white pads (what most people call a fender welting), they are the easiest to repaint.

There are at least a dozen bits and pieces you'll need. The list will depend on what year model you have and what shape your fender flares are in - inspect them before you accept them. They must have the mounting studs secured to the inner face. If they do not, the flares are useless.

If you want to do the legwork yourself, you can use PartSouq or another Toyota EPC database, with your VIN.

The front fender is on panel 5353: Hood and Front Fender.

The rear is on panel 6151: Side Member.
