I am getting together hardware to mount my hard doors and top. Ordered striker plate, bolts but noticed the door striker "shim" appears to be NLA. What are people using? And what thickness should it be??

Shims are about 1.1mm thick and appear to be CAD plated. They are shaped to follow the striker. They appear to be used to extend out the striker when needed. For example my driver's door did not have shims while the passenger door had two.

Thanks for posting up, will need to fabricate or use something else. I believe they are NLA

I ordered some new strikers, but my old ones cleaned up and seemed to latch better. So, I cut the catch off of the "new" strikers and used it as a shim. I dont know why, but my strikers needed a lot of shimming.

Wondering what else I could use as shims..........................??

Shims? This is the fun stuff- I'd get some aluminum plate (1/16"?) from a metal supply, and go to town with a hacksaw & file or Dremel or whatever. It's fun to fabricate stuff when necessary, especially when retired with extra time to spare. Just MHO...

CNC plasma or mill would be sweet. someone get a tracing and dimensions with a good ruler in the picture or better yet, dimensions with a caliper and I can crank out a couple for you to try.

Yes, too bad these are NLA, but should be easy enough to fabricate something

Will see how the strike is first...........

Wonder if firm rubber would work?

Agreed, easy is not always best..............

Did not know that thx brian

Or some stainless steel washers!!!!! Just saw a gorgeous '77 resto that used washers to get the strike just right-the right size will look good
