Another one here with two OEM CV's from Toyota Parts Dallas. Passenger side started slinging one month after install. Driver's side same thing and 3 months later inner boot split down the middle. 2.5" lift with 1" diff drop so my angles are not terrible. I'm fed up with IFS on this rig and collecting parts for an SAS to begin next winter.
Ditto the comments on new oem, bought new in Dec of 17, by Dec of 18 slinging grease on both inner. Was able to warranty but had to pay labor....now 13 months later inner PS seeping, now I'm stuck w/ no recourse. This definitely sucks looks like I will attempt to reband. Lost of bucks for crap.

I talked to my local O'Reilly guys today... Basically they said the same but their managers have final say on "twisted" or damaged axles and steering parts. They basically said it's all about volume and that is what the regional managers push every meeting and quality is all over the board pending the parts and brands. One of the two I was speaking with kept rolling his eyes with every other comment out of the parts lifers mouth. I know both guys fairly well and the younger said to me in the parking lot " if your life and family depends on your parts.... buy them from somewhere else...." Good thing I only buy consumable products from them and not sure I'll ever buy anything there again. Yikes.

OEM CV Axles are not up to spec and can't get another 10-15 years of longevity? BLASPHEMY!
I talked to them today too. They can't even get Cardone axles anymore even their web site says call to order. They are pushing Import Direct brand now.
so NAPA is the only place that have Cardones?

That has been the cheapest place I have found them. I will have to check with my local Napa to see what is what. Website says that the standard Cardone axles (NMD 944038) are available for order at my store and I can have them tomorrow, whereas the HD version (NMD 944081) are call to order only. Doing a comparison of the two it looks like the only difference is the HD outboard boot on the more expensive HD version, everything else seems to be exact same.

While on a long distance trip, one of my inner OE boots was weeping. I just added a hose clamp OVER the OE band. Worked great and has been a couple years since. I'll do the same with the other side should it ever start to leak.

They are just regular worm drive clamps but with smooth/rolled edges. Buy an assortment keep in your trail/spares bag. Stainless Steel 304 is good enough for most... perhaps SS 316 for snow/salt areas but it's much more expensive. I've never had a problem with the large ends leaking, just the small.

I ran this set up on old CV's, and then then the NEW OEM cv assembly whe I noticed it just started leaking right before a 1500 miles trip. I didn't want to mess with band removal.....until after the trip I found a short cut to removing the bands
Mine has developed a leak, i need to do this temp until can get it replaced I'm having trouble picturing what you mean, you actually placed it on existing band or just next to it?

Yes, leave the existing band intact. Take smooth band hose clamp, unscrew to open it up... then place it right over existing band. I lined up the screw part opposite of the bulky side of the OE band (in some hope to counter balance the weight=). It only needs a little bit of a clamp. Maximum torque on the screw is 26 inch-lbs.

I replaced my OE with new OE CV from Toyota couple years back and it's been leaking a little as well. No grinding or bad sounds/noise...just minor leak on the outer boot side. I do have some extra weight (bull bar bumper) and small lift with OE UCA. I figured I would just take off the OE clamps and get some new clamps to tighten up the boots.
So, I just ordered some clamps from @Pfran last week but I haven't heard anything from him. Do you all know where he's at? I was going to order directly from McMaster but tried to support our vendors. Wanted to get it done soon before heading out for a trip.

Not sure how you came up with $18. Did you not see the new and higher price?
