Hi,
Does anybody know if it's possible to turn the odometer from miles to Kilometres ?
How ?
Am I going to reset all ?

I ask this question because I bought my LC in California and drove it to Quebec (4 weeks, 6.000miles), where I'm going to live, and as a french guy, Kilometer is easier for me ! (and Quebec use Kilometer)

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I've also bought a 100 series in the US and want to take it to Canada. Is there anything special you had to do to get it through the Quebec safety test?

No, never !
But It's ok.... I use now "miles interval" for flushs, Km/h are also written (in blue)and I use TomTom wich is a better indication.
The worst was for having a quick idea of gas mileage, because I use liter/100Km...I perform the conversion once, now I know driving 320 miles with a full tank is an acceptable mileage.
The worst, now, is the cruise control increment, mile by mile, 1.6 Km by 1.6 Km

Nothing special to do for the safety test, execpt what they'll found (front right bearing a little bit loose on mine)
Importing UZJ100 is very easy... far far more than importing car in France
We can speak about that if you want... even in f'rench if you want (easier for me ;) )

Great. Thanks for that. I only just checked back on the forum and got your reply.

So for the import you did not have to change the odometer or anything like that? Also I think I'm right in thinking that the 100 already has running lights so there is no issue there. Did you need a letter from Toyota saying there were no outstanding recalls on the vehicle?

Finally when you had the new safety done, is that a provincial test or is it done by the feds? I live in BC and I think the test might be a little different from in Quebec.

Thanks again for the info.

There's two steps... federal and provincial
You will find all needed information about the first step on riv.ca
Really easy !!!
Canadian Tire perform (yes... don't laugh... it's true) the federals verifications after you ended the job with the RIV
For the UZJ100, they only check (according to what the women performing the verification said) for running lights, warning sticker in french and the recall clearance letter.
they probably have a database wich says "all other things are ok" for this car, but the RL may be shutted off and sticker taken off... so...
the recall clearance lette was the most difficult thing to get, but only because the guys in Toyota Fremont (CA) didn't understand what I wanted (my english was worst than today) he told me that there's no recall for my car but don't wanted to write it !
Finally, a dealer in Kansas city gave me what I wanted... a simple toyota's recall status report about my Vin number, printed on official dealer's paper ! it tooks 3 minutes !

There is no safety check done by the fed (else than the canadian tire visit)

In Quebec, we have to pass a safety check even if the car came from other Canadian place.

When I imported wine, I didn't paid provincial tax because I was living in Quebec but the paper was done in Ottawa (house closest custom wharehouse ) and the officer told me that they can't collect other province's tax... I'don't remember if there's a provincial tax when importing a car (in my case, no taxes at all because I wasn't a resident yet) but you should check that and eventually cross the border in Alberta
