We need to decide a firm number and rent some house(s) IMHO.

Harlan County Ridge Runners ATV Club - Lodging

Several options, but I don't have time today to call around for rates/availability. Plus, until we know how many are going, we can't plan accordingly.

I'm just waiting on Ole Greg to give me confirmation of the house, before I look into others. If you haven't posted up you're going than do so now. If not, you may be in the gravel parking lot...
I've been updating the post on page one as people chime in...

I emailed most of the places...let's see what they come back with - most seemed semi decent, most didn't allow dogs.

No bites - there is a ridge runners ride the same weekend.
One guy told me we need to reserve at least 2 mos in advance because it's a popular weekend.

I'm cool w camping...have we reserved a site even if it is a parking lot??

I'm also down for staying up the hill like Stan mentioned - not a big deal to have to drive to shower etc

The site I mentioned is site #3
We have camped there many times, right off trail #45 but secluded enough that not many people even venture up the entrance trail

Guys,

I've talked with Stephen the owner of Harlan Campground (where we stayed last year). He has plenty of tent sites for us, just come on in and he'll set us up. Unless something else pans out, we have this to fall back on.

Brian

What's everyone in the mood for?

It does seem like we might get some rain, as that tropical depression is forcasted to be moving north at the time we'll be up there. Not sure if the mountains will keep it on the east side or not.

Everyone going to drive up Thursday during the day?
Friday a group dinner or Saturday? Back to Pizza one night and see if Greg can work his magic?

Am I missing something here Brian? The TD is moving through this week, no? Is there another one I am unaware of - hope not, because if it's a rainy, rainy forecast, the Wellers might be staying home :(

Sorry, I caught the weather on the way out, and was thinking next week since it was Wednesday already. Seems Thurs-Fri will be sunny high 70-73 low 46-47

Jerry - hope all is ok - get well soon!

I likely won't arrive til Friday...
I vote for Pizza on Fri & group dinner on Sat.

Hopefully the forecast holds - will be nice to wheel when it's not gushing!

Houses are all booked up, due to the Fall Crawl the following weekend, Event similar in size to the Jeep Jamboree, likely expect some traffic on the trails.

I am still on the fence about this trip so don't count me in as of yet.

So the definites are:
Ramon and Emma (2)
Brian, Heather, Lily (3)
Jared (1)

Del (how are the repairs going?)
Jon (Are you riding with someone?)

Greg, I know what you mean about being on the fence, as I'm the same. We've debated on dropping out, but I want to hang in there for everyone! Wife has a conference one weekend in Oct. and our 10yr anniv. is another... So we're busy in October..

I'm flying solo...
Jon - you are welcome to ride w me - just need to hitch a ride to and from...

Unfortunately Heather and I are dropping out. We have so much on our plate right now that we can simply not get away. Between developing the new business, getting the new house together (to us, built in the 40s) etc etc etc it seems we never have any time these days.

I'm all for going - but if everyone is riding the fence, we don't have to hold it on my behalf...though I will cry on the inside.
