Looking for a little assist here. I've finally gotten around to a full tune up on my '83 FJ60, and in doing so have found a rattle that is pretty obnoxious. It's coming from the driver's side, in the area of the carb. I thought it might be some type of heat shield, but can't seem to find it anywhere. I looked for something like that when I adjust the valves today, but didn't see anything then either.

Thoughts? It's just subtle enough that it might not be heard on the video. But now that I hear it, I can't not hear it!

Get used to it.
No really.
Can’t hear it but it could be an exhaust manifold shield, possibly the rear one.

I can't hear the rattle, but I can easily hear the exhaust leak. The rear manifold heat shield is made up of two sandwiched pieces. It could be resonating at a certain rpm/vibration and it would be hard to pinpoint

Also cannot hear anything I would describe as a rattle...but maybe a leak...any signs of exhaust smell?

Exhaust leak for sure! I haven't been brave enough yet to get past all the emissions crap to get to the exhaust manifold to diagnose. Maybe that's tomorrow. 😁

Maybe I can hear it?
I had the EGR port make a rattling squeak when it was loose and the gasket blown out. Would get very loud while under load. Horrible noise.
