my buddy has a 2002 tundra v8. He purchased a o2 sensor from autozone with one wire, the factory one has four wires, white, blue and two blacks. Does anyone kno if this is a correct replacement? any help would be great.

thanks

He bought the universal fit and not the exact fit. The exact fit does cost more.

Yeah, thats not it. The Tundie's have heated sensors. The extra wires are to heat up the internal element to the proper temperature when needed, for the sensor to work correctly.

I've read a LOT of threads where the Tundras (1st Gen at least), dont like any aftermarket 02 sensors.
I guess chances of having CEL codes show up, after using any replacement sensor OTHER than Denso's (OEM), is pretty high. For some reason the Tundies are very touchy about the inputs from the 02 & A/F sensors.
You can find Denso 02 sensors for less than $60 ea.

thanks for the info cracker, he ordered up a denso....we wired up the single wire one and his light came on within 30 miles....def needs the heaters to work.
