Welcome :flipoff2:

Re the 60 series PS - I have just done this mod - some advice - use it or lose it.

The 60 Series Tie rod end (TRE) on the pitman arm is left hand thread - which TRE have you used on the 40's steering knuckle side
As the standard 40 TRE on the steering knuckle side is also left hand thread.
Therefore, if you use two left hand thread TRE's you wont have any steering wheel adjustability. :whoops:

Also, you should try and move the PS box forward a bit or it will catch on the other tie rod at full lock left

Hi All:

You should use a re-inforcing plate of some sort between the PS gearbox and the frame rails. A "scab plate" of 10 - 12mm mild steel should work fine.

Good luck on the build!

Alan

Mine has a threaded 1cm reinforcing plate mounted on the inside.

if i said canterbury would you know where i mean
in regard for the arm rod end issue could i not just use the other joint from the other end and put a dog leg in the arm i have to make a new one anyway to take the m23 thread left thread to the right hand stupid m17 fine thread on the standard ball joint?
balljointphoto.jpg

as for the plates and stuff along the inside im puting 80x6 plate from engine mount to front crossmember and on the outside as well with spacers in between the plates to make it more rigid

Yes, i know exactly where Canterbury is. I work for a NZ/AUS company. My good friend lives in Auckland and the president of my company is from Wanganui.

No dont dogleg or bend it will only weaken the tierod

I welded the 60 series tierod to the 40 sereis tie rod
then I had 40 series left hand thread on steering knuckle and
60 series right hand thread tie rod end and tie rod attached to the pitman arm.

hey guys ive moved the p/s box forward about 12 mm just enough to get clearance on the tierod and added a 6mm plate to give a bit more strength to the frame horn and im adding a plate to the inside but i dont have it back from a profile cutters these photos arent the greatest but you can get the idea

hae guys ive got the p/s box mounted and tierod etc sorted but when i go to hard lock either way p/s box wants to keep going past the stops of the axle, Is this a major issue if so how do i fix it?

I don't know if it is actually a problem or not, I figured that what the stops on the axle are for. A shorter pitman arm will decrease the travel of the tie-rod.
