Hey everyone

I want to get a nutsert tool, looked at McMaster Carr and see that they have three or four options-- cheap, plier type; more expensive plier type, electric, and "torque" type.

I've only used the plier type, and that was a while ago... anyone care to comment on what they use (and like or don't like).

I got mine from McMaster (search for "rivet nut"). I think it was around $50. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. It works pretty well (I've used it up to M6).

www.lowbucktools.com is where I got mine.

Very pleased.

You can get metric 6x1 nutserts from Fastenall in bulk they are great for mounting stuff to firewall, brake line brackets, wire loom fastening points, etc.

I'm pretty sure I purchased the economy 360deg swivel rivet tool from mcmaster carr (94370A260). A picture of mine is in this post: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=2201367&postcount=1. I've used it for quite a few 1/4" aluminum nut rivets and not so many steel rivets. It works pretty good, but it takes a bit of hand strength.

Harbor Freight has some inexpensive ones, but I've never tried them.

I have had the Harbor Freight one(s). The first time I got one I broke the 1/4 attachment several times and sent the tool back several times. Fourth time was the charm and I still have it after many years (I guess I got lucky) The reason I think it kept braking was the thickness of the metal I was riveting to. The other issue with those Harbor Freight ones is they only are available in SAE. I think it would be neat to have a metric one with metric rivets.
