So I am contemplating here.

I have read good things about the Dana300. but how does it hold up with 1 ton axles and 38's or bigger. The 203/300 combo would go under my 62 with 1 ton axles.

I know the 203/205 combo is pretty much bomb proof, but the 300 gearing options are cheaper.

What do you all think?

300 has better gearing choices but is weaker overall. I know a few peeps over here managing to blow them up with 4bangers and 38s but they are VERY hard on their stuff. I went 203/205 for the times I really wanted to hit the skinny pedal and not think twice about it. Downfall to the 205 is that they can be a pain to shift on occasion.

sorry tony, i missed your call..

its a toss up. you will need the 4:1, HD front and Rear outputs on the dana 300. (then it is very stout)

203/205 would just need the adapter.. so i would say that's a Cheaper option.

jeff is selling his setup - SM465 203-205 doubler northwest fab

I was thinking of doubling the 300 with the 203 then later add 4.1 to the 300 which would give me an awesome crawl ration.

or I could later add the 3.1 lowmax to the 205 i guess, just not as good crawl ratio.

It would probably cost me the same to build the 300 with the 32 spline outputs and 4.1

so just stick with the trusted and proven bomb proof 205 huh? I think that is what i'll do!

i think you will want the 4:1, So 203 doubler would be the ticket, then you have 2:1 or 4:1 options..

Or get yourself a Bling 3 speed Stak

but i dont think you would want to do the lowmax and the 203.. 6:1 is a little much for an auto!
