Not gonna make this one, too much to pay for right now. Next year, definitely.

To answer your question Brian ...

1. I don't have kids so I don't care - just kidding
2. I drink lots of beer and diet mtn dew and always recycle so as to keep others who don't from throwing these items in the garbage.
3. I have a diesel and propane powered vehicle. I'm all about low emission.
4. I guess I should do like other wannabes and buy carbon offsets so I can pretend I care without the inconvenience.

:)

On a serious note - we will plan to make a decision by Sunday and go from there?

:p I kid, I kid...

Yes, definite plans by Sunday, so those on the fence speak up or forever hold your peace...

:p I kid, I kid...

No, I felt ya' - my "list" was in jest. Except the last line... because I think that whole carbon credits thing is laughable at best.

Harlan would be a blast, so I hope we get enough to make the trip. Y'all think I'm being silly about the safety concerns?

Nope, I don't. Been there twice, pulled cable both times. Once for myself and once for another. It can be an unfriendly place if one gets in the wrong place and a bit of moisture applied to the terrain...

I need to get my m12000 rebuilt, I have all the pieces, just need the time.

And borrow the blasting and powdercoating at Jerry's! :p

It rained a lot in Harlan last Thursday, so a lot of the trails were fairly wet for the weekend. The ledge at the top of Your Turn has gotten tough. The climb at the end of Fish Fossil is rutted out. The top of Crawford's Cry is getting rough where you have to make the hard right to go back down. Mason Jar was as easy as I've ever seen it, but it was dry. Lion's Den was a little wet but not bad. The Upper Rock Garden was wet, but there is always standing water there. Grape Vine and Middle Rock Garden was wet but not that bad. The climb out of Rail Bed is getting fun.

I got my schedule and it looks like the earliest I can leave is thursday afternoon after work but I have monday off as well so I would be able to stay longer on sunday or at least not have to hurry back.

So is this still a go? this will be my last opportunity to go to a place like harlan before I go back overseas but dont want to go out there by myself.

There has been lots of discussion on this trip due to the amount of people going. Nothing has really been setup, as the turnout was low, and a lot of people backed out. We're still up for making a trip, but myself and Ramon were the only confirmed attendees. Ramon and I were playing with a plan B when Jon and Del showed renewed interest in going.

Del, you and Jon have said you're going, so we'll discuss at the monthly meeting tonight and decide on a path forward for next week. In any case, we're looking at probably camping as a cabin has not been lined up, and probably going without confirmed reservations on camping.

If I have commits from the 4 of us by tonight, I'll work on a cabin. Doubtful, but would make the trip slightly more expensive, but much easier IMHO. I love camping, but going solo adds to the work. Plus, it would be easier to get up and hit the trails.

I won't be able to stay through Monday due to work commitments though.

I am game.
Like I mentioned before, I would not arrive until late thursday night.
Wheel on friday and sat and head back on sunday.

So far the weather forescast is good. Upper 50's for highs, lower 40's for lows. Some scattered showers for Wed-Thursday, but clear and sunny for Fri-Sat....

Alright guys - getting close to go time!!!

I think I have communicated to everyone, but I have a 1:00 conference call Thursday I simply can't miss, so my ETD is between 1:30 and 2:00. If y'all want to wait for me, that's great. If not, totally understandable. I can meet you there Thursday evening, hopefully should roll in by 8:30. I'll PM the house address and other particulars. Let's hope the weather holds per the forecast, but we'll be glad we got the house with sub-freezing lows at night.

All,

Ramon and I discussed making something quick and easy each night to maximize the amount of time on the trails. Something like chili one night, and maybe spaghetti another. We can hit the local store on the way up, if we choose to do this. If you choose to do your own thing, just post up.
Buy your beer here, though!

Ramon, I'll wait for you. If I can try and get my winch on the truck, Thursday will be my best bet.

I need to ask Jerry if he has some free time one night this week for some blasting and powdercoating. Worse comes to worse, I'll clean it up as much as possible, prime it, and throw some Rustoleum on it. I'll need to use someone's press to get the motor bearing off the housing, in order to put the new motor on it.

What are you wanting to clean-up? I'm typically free after 7:30, home after 8p...

If you head to Jerry's for that, my press is 5mins away and I'll be there working on my sliders to frame ties. Jerry, you are the goto guy with all the cool toys!
