I've got a distinctive squeak/rattle in the front of the cabin, sounds like where the dash meets the windshield. Took it to local dealer and was not inspired by their confidence - they said "we've got a regional rep coming through next week if you want to take the dash apart - we don't do it that often, and you may end up with more rattles than you started"
Yikes
It is pronounced, it bugs, and I am on my 5th LC and definitely not used to rattles. My '87 does not have as loud a squeak.

anyone else had a dash rattle, is it ubiq to these models?
I've got a 04 LC, 32k mi, nav, no big bumps or bruises in its history, I've had it since 24 mi on the clock

Try this...when driving and the rattling is occuring...push your finger between the dash and the windshield where it sounds like the squeak in coming from. If it stops then your dash is slightly rubbing against the glass. Wedging something or a small piece of felt like material in there will usually cause the squeak to stop. If not this it may be your windshield cowling needing a little insulation/foam which can be fixed outside the cabin I believe.

absolutely great suggestions
why does my dealer not know that?

I had a terrible squeak coming from the ovehead light panel/sunroof control panel on the roof near the winshield. I pryed off the cover slightly and it completely cured the squeak. I pushed it 90% back in and no squeaks. I will lubricate the clips or figure out exactly where the squeak originates when I have some extra time. My vehicle is a 2000 Landcruiser.
