I just got back into town from New Hampshire, and went to crank my FJ-40... It tried to start, but seemed like it is getting no spark to the spark plugs. I checked the distributor cap, the spark plugs (themselves), and all connections. And, YES, before someone says it, there IS gas in it and it is making it to the carb.

Thinking of the vehicle as a system, there is nothing that has changed since last time I drove it.... Any suggestions????

When did you drive it last?
Is the gas good?

I drove it two weeks ago.

I managed to get it to start yesterday evening, but it just poured white smoke. Also, it would only stay started if I kept my foot in the gas... After talking to my buddy, who is a mechanic, he said that he is 98% sure that the head gasket is blown...

with the information you've supplied.. how can you jump to the assumption that its a bad head gasket?
