interesting you bring this up, we were looking at a 06 Cruiser new on the lot........it does not say Araco on it anyplace(like on the PS front door).....like our 2000 and 1999.......so it think its already happened.........Cruisers not beinig made by Araco

nope, we were just driving by the dealer saturday and saw a burgundy 06 on the lot........so we stoped and looked at it, salesman was an Aussie..........and had NO clue about Cruisers.......I am guessing that why he was kicked out of AUS

I think you are correct that the switch has already happened. I read somewhere that 100 cruisers production has moved while 100 LX production has remained with Araco. Go to the Lexus dealer and look for the stickers on the 06 LX. That would be interesting to see. It seems insanely odd for LC and LX production to have been seperated but I did read it on the web so it must be true.

So it 2004 the last year of LC build in the original Araco plant? I am considering replacing my 2002 and have been doing some research on the newer models. Seems like 05 and greater have more problems, and I am reluctant to buy a $60K vehicle and have concerns.

I am leaning towards finding an 04 without the NAV if I can.

the lx are not built there either my o6 which i purchased back in nov 05 does not have any araco stickers ! very bummed i complained a lot b/c the quality was really bad and i did not do my research and would have pruchased a later build. ( my mirror broke passgr wind sunrood losta ascrew and rattled around up there for the longest time etc minor things but annoying

What do you mean when you say later build? Are they back to making it in Araco then?

I am debating about ordering a 2007 without the fancy suspension and NAV or trying to find a 2004 without the NAV. I'd like the VVTI, but if I can find a 2004, I'll have enough spare change to throw in an AVO Turbo from Slee if I feel like I need the additional Power.

I am getting a bit concerned about the quality problem with the electronics as they are more expensive to fix in the long run than power-train problems. Replacing the NAV unit and associated hardware would probably cost more than an engine rebuild.

Your right 2004 is the last of the LC/LX's that were built by ARCO. I understand that Toyota had a retirement offer at this same time and many of the old craftsmen that built the LC/LX at ARCO took this offer and did not move to the new location. I think that along with the move is why we see some assemblity issues with the 2005 and 2006 LC/LX's. Nothing really bad but some start up issues for the new group.

If I get a chance, I'll try to take one tonight. However, basically, it's the Araco logo, about 1.5" in width, in the doorjam area, but on the door itself. This is not the actual sticker, but does show the logo:

I could be wrong (and I probably am since I did not catch it the first time), but "Araco" changed to Toyota Auto Body.

And AFAIK there is only one location/factory that manufactures the LC100/70 and it has been that way for some time (I think).

The Prado/GX470/4Runner are manufactured at a different plant (Tahara) but the 100/70 have been manufactured at the Yoshiwara plant where I had recently visited.

I tried to pull up the link posted by drexx, but it was too old.

ANYWAY, no matter what happened, Toyota Autobody IS Toyota (manufacturing larger/commercial vehicles) and if you could see what I saw at their Yoshiwara plant, manufacturing the 100/70 you would not think the quality was compromised AT ALL.

mercaarn if you go by the vin numbers you can tell when the truck was actually assembled; when they moved to the new plant they had all sorts of quallty control problems annoying but no the less with a 70k vehicle enough that toyota actually delayed release of the ls and other models thru out the world there are posts of articles to back that statement up any way as per my rep at the lexus dealership they new had all sorts of trouble the first 6 months were horrible any way all is good now. also if used vehicle dont have the stickers that means parts example hood or doors or fenders have been replaced with after market parts they may be toyota but not from the araco plant so beware i would definetly buy a new one

sorry for my poor spelling and no punctuations but i forgot to add back in nov i was having all sorts of trouble with the 02 sensr making the vsc lights come on any way i went shopping around and looked at all others our the merced hummer the only one close was the range rover and it was 120k and no 3rd row ( sometimes i have a bunch of kids to cart around) i am ruff on my vehicles also so it was a bit to nice for me i like nice stuff but it had to much bling)
