North County Paint Shops??

I had my old '88 4runner painted down in TJ back in '01. They cut out rust, welded in new pieces, painted whole exterior, bumpers, bull bar and rims for $500 something. I stripped everything down before heading across the border and had one heck of a nervous week waiting for the work to be done.

Hey Mike, the shop is in Ensenada still waiting on the name from my friend. He goes down there bird hunting a lot and I guess this was a recommendation from the ranch foreman. A mutual friend of ours is also taking his truck down there to get fancied up again.

I'm out of the market for a paint job - after 3 clay bar treatments (4 clay bars) I was able to get 99% of the rusting grind dust. The paint on my truck looks amazing compared to before. :D Especially since I spent $40 instead of $1k.

Don't think it works for clearcoats but I took some 2,500 grit wet and dry sandpaper to my 40's faded stock paint.

It took the layer of oxidation and brought it back to a smooth finish. Trick was keeping the surface wet.

Paint and work

Looks like the PO for my 80 took it to earl scheib for the $500 special, there is overspray on the B pillars, chipping on the bumpers, overspray/bad taping on the window rubber. Can't recommend them.

With that said, I recently removed the roofrack and spoiler and am looking to get the top welded and filled. I'm not opposed to a Mexico shop especially if I can get leather rewrap, carpet and paint.

Let me know details if you get them!:D
