Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster. Proud owner of a '93 Fj80, 92k on the clock. I've owned it since thanksgiving. I'm looking to go to a mud tire for several reasons. First, I am interested in some casual mudding and 4-wheeling. Nothing major, since I don't have a lift as of yet. My buddy has the Bridgestone Dueller M/T's, and I'll probably pick up a set myself. I just have a question on the sizing...will the 265/75R16 fit in my stock wheel wells? The diameter is 33.1 inches, which seems a little large. If I have to go down to the 265/75R16's it won't be the end of the world, but I'd like to know your opinions.

Joe, A long time reader definately know's which size of tire will fit on a stock suspension. Assuming you mean 285 not 265 then yes a 285 will fit fine. By the way, Welcome to the board.

Yes 285/75/16 will fit nicely, and they will look like this if you get the Goodeay MT/R:

Ben,

We should have guessed you would have a red one. :D

Did you paint your OEM caps black? It looks like you repainted the gold logo too. I like it.

I did repaint the center caps black. The center part of the cap (logo area) was originally black w/gold logo, and was in good shape and not faded, so I taped over the center and sanded and painted the rest of the cap black. I like the way it looks now :)

Awesome

That looks great, mine is the same color. I'll be painting my center caps black this weekend. I love it.

Nice looking rig Ben. Paint looks nice and glossy. Makes me wish I didn't have the custom "pinstriping" (read scratches) down the sides of mine.

Thanks, that was after the big yearly detailing, first time I've "clayed" a vehicle before, looks awesome, but definitely time consuming and alot of elbow grease.

what does "clayed" mean?

Clay Bar - detailing word. It's a clay like bar that when used properely will take off lots of road grime etc that will build up on the paint surface that normal wash/wax will not remove.

Caveat here - you must be careful with the stuff so you don't remove your clearcoat or paint.

It does work wonders. First time I clayed the LC, the surface was as smooth as glass. Must follow up with a good wax.

I personally us Zaino products at www.zainobros.com. No affiliation, just very satisfied with his products. Very good DIY instructions on the clay bar, etc.

Agreed. Very good stuff.

285/75-16's on mine (Firestone Destination MT's!)

I haven't had any problems with rub at droop or stuff yet.

I think that one thing we forget to do is warn newbies about the dangers of owning MT tires on a 80 cruiser. Warning: May cause the cruiser and owner to have uncontrolable urges to drive off-road. May cause excessive smiling and an overwhelming sense of "can't be stopped".

I think I can handle that. Took the running boards off today, painting the center caps tomorrow, Bridgestone M/T's coming in on wednesday. Before/After pics up by the end of the week. I think I'm in heaven. Only one problem....I lost one of my center caps on the road. Any thoughts on prices from the stealership or where else I can get one?
