I have a non US distributor for my 78 FJ40, but can't afford a non US carb or Weber at this time, and wondering if this will work, and if so where would I hook up the vacuum advance. Any advice is appreciated!

Jim Chenoweth is the guru but I'm not sure he listens to this
board. I know that you need a source of ported vacuum, off
the carb, just beneath the throttle plates. Do not nook it up
to intake manifold vacuum!

Is there something wrong with your current set up?

If not, toss the distributor in a box, get your carb, and install the whole deal later..or go pick a money tree, and get the carb!

Good luck!

I've only had the cruiser for a few months. The PO has removed some, but not all of the smog stuff and I'm sure what's left is not the right way to have it. I get about 9 mpg. I was planning on rebuilding the carb and using the advance only dist, but maybe I should keep the old dist, just not sure about the advance / retard hookup. Thanks again for the help!
