While changing out my Turbo, I arced the the main wire going to the Alt, Whe I went to start the truck BJ40, there was no voltage to the interior, after a while I found 2 fuses on the drivers side under the hood that had blown. While testing out the turbo my voltage spike badly and I lost my 24vlt to he fuse panel again. the fuses I replaced were still good so I must have blown something else. whiel checking the fuses they touched together and the fues panel was powered back up. Any Ideas ? (Other than disconnecting the batteries when working on the truck in the first place.) i do have another Alt to replace this one but I need voltage to the main wire out of the alt first. Back to the FSM i go.

Maybe the fuseable link at the battery?

I'd do a quick check along the wiring to make sure nothing melted.

Regards

He mentioned the power came on the second time, so I assume the fusable link is in place?

Personally I would dump the fusable link and put in a marine type fuse, they are wicked cool and it could be set on top of the battery.

As for your problem, start from the battery, keep it simple and check for power down the line.

It appears to have fried the amp guage as there is no needle left and it smoked. that is were the voltage probally has gone.
