Hello all,
I have changed the plugs, set the gap, changed the rotor and cap, changed the points, changed the coil. Yesterday, it started up an ran great. Set the timing to 7* BTDC and she was purring away with lots of power. As of this morning, nothing.
The engine whirs and whirs and whirs but won't start. The cap has some scoring/carbon on it already ???
I do have a electronic distributor or maybe a converted points distributor? It says toyota 2F on the side with "ignitor by pertronix" on the little black box inside. It has two wires coming out of it instead of one.
I know I will need a new coil with an ignitor, but I am unsure as to how to wire everything up.
Is it advantagous to go with a pointless system?
