I was pretty disappointed when I went to install the new radiator and realized it did not come with the radiator cap. The original Toyota one does not fit the CSF 2708. I did some searching here on the forum, but did not see anything definitive Is there a recommended replacement cap? I checked the CSF website and they didn’t seem to list one for that model, or somehow I missed it. I know lots of people are running that radiator as well on their 60, so just curious what others are doing. Thanks in advance.

There are basically 'big' and 'little' caps in the Toyota world. I would find a 4Runner cap (if you need the small size) of the same pressure value as recommended by Toyota. If you need the large size, reference an FJ40 cap from the late 1970s/early '80s. Maybe CSF can provide you with cap information?

My original old Toyota radiator cap fit the CSF 2708 perfectly. I didn’t use it of course but it’s new replacement fit.

Thanks both. I picked one up at Advance Auto to get me by until the CSF cap arrives. Both are the correct size and pressure. I was hoping to find a Toyota one, I’ll have to hunt around.

.

this is a Made in Japan Spec. parts Genuine NipponDenso Saudi-Spec. region cap. i purchase from DENSO in Japan ...

the main notable difference is the EPDM rubber is bit thicker on both the spring loaded pressure relief valve seat & above it on the main goose neck rim / lip seal too

a less notable difference is the metal body is not as magnetic by feel , if you go back and forth between it and the Toyota Genuine Parts one you would be sold at your local dealer , using a simple small telescoping manual antenna style magnetic pick-tool , which is also made in japan by
DENSO ..... but , never the less both are magnetic based metal ....
- i personally run this on GHOST's original stock factory Toyota radiator from day 1 ,

- also the wifey's 2002 5VZ-FE Taco Pre-Runner , and SUPER HILUX's 2UZ-FE , both are the later black plastic top / bottom tanks w/ the silver aluminum teeth folded around and over the tank lip mating surfaces , both are a Made in Japan factory installed 16400- 's but have no oem parts maker logo's cast in the plastic like a oem TOYO ones does on a 100 series for example ....
hence later plastic small cap goose necks , as opposed to
solid brass ....

- this is a " small size spec. cap "
5/86-1990 60 & 62 series applications ..

- the " BIG size-spec cap "
8/80-4/86

i bring up the cap-size-spec topic here , because recently , as in the last many months prior to the Holidays 2023 / post summer range , i have seen more then a few aftermarket all brass painted gloss black C.S.F. identical looking new 60 / 62 radiator application that indeed have the older 8/80-4/86 BIG cap required goose neck on them now ......

- i have yet to see a photo of or heard the topic mentioned of a ATM equipped FJ62
3F-E , showing or using the older big cap , but it will eventually surface here or on Igram , because the ones i bumped into randomly also had the use application FJ62 88-90 along with them .... & also clearly had the 2 ATM fluid hose bib ports on the bottom , exactly like a CSF brand one does too ,,,,

- none said
3F-E or 4.0L also ...

- there was no name brand mentioned in the descriptions , that had few words ...
