I'm a big believer in using the search function before posting a question that 6 million others have answered.
But….

I'm having a hard time finding any info on a broken "shift lock override" on a '91.
If I want to get it out of "P", I have to depress the small shift lock (and brake of course).
Any ideas on what’s wrong?
Thanks,

Not sure but I think that there is a failure mode that requires you to pull the little "plug" in the console just north of the shifter. In that exposed hole you need to insert a screw driver to defeat the brake interlock.

My guess is that it's not sensing that you have pushed on the brake.

I'm no expert but I recall reading that somewhere on here. Also check the owners manual, I think it's discussed there as well.

Thanks for searching, the crowd is getting grumpy. ;)

Oh, welcome to the Mud.

I would suggest that when you search and find nothing that you reduce the number of words in your search. I used "shift" and found these:

I then did "interlock" and found this one:

Use the words that most would use not the complete phrase. Good ones might be shift, shifter, interlock, "can't shift", stuck,

see the Admin section...updated a thread today on searching....probably outta do a "official search FAQ" one of these days too....

C,

Many times the problem is a burned out brake light or fuse.
