Something I came up with after a customer kept bugging the crap out of me to make something for his Gen1 Taco. So decided on a 3rd Brake Light bracket for an NMO mont for a HAM or UHF antenna. Ordered the NMO mount to test with and will make up a prototype for fitment. If everything works the way I hope then I'll transfer the design over to the Gen 2 and 3 Tacos as well. Thoughts?

Right now I’m looking at going 6061 stainless and either keeping it raw or having it powder coated.

Great idea!

Might be nice to a dual version for folks like me who run both CB and Ham.
Also would be a nice spot to mount a rear-facing light or two, or a mini lightbar.

I like raw SS, no need to protect stainless steel and it could be painted to match the truck.
But you probably know better as to what customers like.

A lot of people use the hatch visor, so I would make one that works with the visor. However I wonder if the 3Rd brake light mounting screws are beefy enough to handle a big antenna. Another idea: make a new visor with a mount for an antenna and brackets for a led light bar/bars.

I would be interested in both the antenna mount (utilizing the Firestik quick disconnect as I would have to take the antenna off to get in the garage) as well as a bed light mount.

Tacoma 3rdBrakeLight AntennaMount is getting closer to being ready to go into production. Right now it’s just Gen1 with Gen2 and Gen3 close behind. It’s currently being designed in 304 stainless steel and will include a 3/8” Laird NMO Mount and laser cut gaskets on both sides. Before you ask, no word on pricing nor availability but that’s coming soon.

Saw this on TW earlier. It looks like a great idea. I also like the idea of a dual antenna mount... Keep in mind that transmitting from antennas so close together will have issues. So maybe one for HAM/CAB/4G/etc... And the other for GPS/XM or something like that.

I know this is oldish, but if this is done or still in the works, offering a carbon steel version of it would be cool to, allowing the end user to weld on it to add light brackets or what not as needed. Alternatively, I guess someone could just buy a spool of stainless wire.
