Yeah, didn't make it... Dude, I seriously can't buy one of these.. In the last week I've had two sellers back out, and missed out on about four others due to being sold already!! Ughhh... This search is becoming tiresome??

I just sent an email.. We will see if I made it in time..

No, you didnt, because I emailed him last nite with the ad 1 hour old. And I'm sure I was 50 minutes late myself. I got nothing back as well.

And at $5,200, if that ad is still up and active on Monday, then its a scam and they are phishing lol.

I sent an email yesterday, as well. He replied about an hour later stating that he was honoring a deposit.

I was willing to fly in drive home then deal with the old lady for that one. I just hope it went to someone that's going to use it and not try to flip it for double. I'm beginning to think CL is 80% scams and flippers, and 20 % real ads by real owners.

I second that.. I got the same email about honoring a deposit.. CL sellers of these either want big $$ or next to nothing, and like you said are prob scams.. I'm supposed to be looking at a 97 40th on Monday that has some issues.. With the price she is listing I'm expecting it to be a complete sh*t box.. My luck anyway, just can't seem to find the rite one at the rite price.. It's all about timing..

AMEN brothers!! You'd think some of these sellers are holding onto gold. At the rate it's going, I'll likely just find myself getting a 100 and ditching my quest for a good 80 series. :bang:

You are actually hopping out the frying pan and into the fryer. Its even harder to find a nice 100 than it is a nice 80. I have been looking for another 100 for myself and its LEAN out there. I live in a city of 700,000 people and there are exactly ZERO 100s for sale, either on Craigs or Autotrader/Cars.com. On Ebay a few days ago I counted 20 80s and 3 100s. I have been at it for months searching for a clean 100 at a decent price, and no luck. Maybe time of the year, who knows. But good luck. We all need it.

There is a 100 for sale close to me in MD.. I made an inquiry with the guy and communicated a few days and got some decent pics of it.. Long story short I wasn't dead set on this thing but he needs to sell so I low balled him not thinking he would except.. He was asking 12.5 which is high, but I offered him 8 cash and he said come and get it.. I'm still holding out for an 80 but I know where I can go get a nice 100 if nothing pans out.. If you are interested in the pics and more info hit me up at 717-860-2555 and I'll get you in contact with him..

Yep. I've seen a few 100's out there just in casual searching while attempting to find my unicorn of an 80. 1998-2000 seem to be the years that I've seen the most of for the best prices. I'm still not 'sold' on the 100 and I really don't know why. They seem like fully capable rigs for my intended uses AND the V8 became a factory option. What's not to like?

I'm with u on that buddy.. They are super nice.. What's not to like??!!.. I guess when it comes down to it.. I'll feel better with front & rear solid axles..

What's up fellas. Thought I'd jump on this one. I'm gonna sell my black 97 LX450. It has the front/rear/center diffs with 197k on the clock. I'll be asking $7500 for it. Let me know if y'all are interested before I put it up here on MUD. Cheers!

I'm interested and located in Walnut Creek, CA

Well fellas it's officially done!! I happened to seal the deal and found myself a 1997 collectors Ed with 189k.. And it was only 120 miles away.. Private sale, sweet lady I got it from was 2nd owner for the last 15 years.. Gots some bumps and bruises, and needs some attention under the hood with a few seals and gaskets but starts, runs, and still shifts like a champ.. I can't believe I can finally say that I am an 80 series owner!! and a Coll Ed at that..now the fun begins.. Anybody that won't mind me pestering them with a bunch of Q's please send me contact info... Lol... Hundreds of Q's running thru my mind rite now... My priorities rite now are these and if anyone can guide towards good quality parts for..
1.. Collector Ed front Leather replacements.. Front power seat small knob
2. Second row seats.. Came without them
3. Interior wood grain trim replacement..
4. Complete front axle seal, gasket, trunion rebuild kit OEM quality
5. Anything engine associated that is known to leak? Valve cover, crank seal, etc.. Anyone make a kit?
