Back from the camping trip and with no deadline approaching – and no other pressure to complete the job, other than my wife’s dirty looks (not “dirty” as in “a-good-time-dirty”, but rather more “annoyed”) because I was parked in her parking spot in the garage, I slowed down the pace and took my time cleaning some things here and there as I went.

And I finally got to start putting things back together:

On the left you can see my AC Delco AC idler pulley. I wanted to stay with Toyota parts but I couldn't pay $110 for a simple pulley. The Toyota part also didn't have a replaceable bearing....so after I took some measurements, I found this for about $12 on Amazon.

Back together...and runs like a top!

Ignore the fancy hood prop - the hood struts became unpredictable....(and are on order!)

BTW I accidently did some welding when I (like a rookie) inadvertently touched the battery terminals together while using a wobble extension on my socket wrench..... There was a big spark and the socket shot off the end like a little rocket! :0 I'm just glad I wasn't using my one Snap-On wrench at that time! I was using a sacrificial Craftsman!

So with the wheels on I finally got to drive her again! :) :)

The wheels turned out a little more GOLD than I wanted - but I decided to leave them alone for now.
I'm not running any spacers but I do have them in the garage....I think I like the tall, narrow look...

Next?

Clean window regulators – passenger side is really slow
Clean-up/paint front grill and bumper trim
Buy, install stereo
Window tint
Add some charging ports/aux fuse panel
Roof rack
RTT?
Bumpers at some point? Winch?

The part that is unbelievable to me is that I have spent over $6750 so far in parts (I did all the labor except for the injection pump rebuild) and the only visual difference is the wheels/tires, sliders and lift!

Great progress. I love in your sig line "stock for a few weeks..." My first one evolved very gradually. The current rig (imported in May) was on the continent for all of 3 days before I tore into it with 4" lift, 35s, 3" exhaust... And its not over yet!

The slow windows are often the window runs at this age. Seems replacement is the only remedy.

Everything seems to go quicker the 2nd time around, lol.

I've replaced the window runs on mine, still slow. Cleaning the contacts in the switch seemed to make a difference, but feels like it needs done again this year.

The window runs/switch contacts sounds like a good little excuse for getting away from the houseguests over the holidays and retreating to the garage! :)

Sounds like you have a nice rig.. And I just changed my sig line this morning (coincidentally)!

Big difference was this time my wife was asking when I was going to get going on the mods to the new truck. I'm a lucky man indeed!

can you provide details on the Delco idler pulley?

Sorry I didn't see your request until just recently. I purchased the Gates 38036 which is identical to the ACDelco 38036 but it was nearly 1/2 the price ($13.91 on amazon). The dust cover doesn't really fit it well (it stands off a bit- so it likely isn't really keeping any dust out)...but it all works fine.

I just caught up on your thread. Great job on detailing the whole process of what you did to get your rig trail ready. So, what got you thinking about using the Gates/Delco idler pulley? Did you just measure the ID and OD and google from there? Again, great job and I look forward to updates!

Thanks! And yes I just took some measurements with my calipers and started googling (or amazoning) parts! I figure the function is the same - I just needed to confirm form and fit!

Man...at first I was upset you took off the stock wheels (love that style for some reason) but then got excited when you put the steelies on...mmmm steelies....
