As the days get shorter I'm finding myself driving more frequently after dark and being annoyed by the very, very bright head unit. I know I can (and do) turn the screen off, but I could have sworn that the maps screen used to to turn dark (like "dark mode") before, yet it no longer does that. I've got a sensor in the centre speaker (on top of the dash) which I thought was the sensor responsible for this, and it's unobstructed. Is there a setting somewhere that I might have messed up? Any way to diagnose the sensor?

On my 16+ LC200 i have a little knob left of the steering wheel under the dials which allows me to adjust the light level. When I turn that up (clockwise) including past a click it will go to full bright, day or night.

The "normal" or "preferred" position is turned up however not past the click. Have a look. Maybe your 2014 LX570 has the same.

Mine was turned to the max; that must be it. Another problem caused by the damn nut connecting the seat to the steering wheel!

Much appreciated!
