My 2016 has just recently started freezing intermittently. It's usually been on longer trips where all of a sudden volume control stops working and the screen freezes. It's happened with satellite radio, Bluetooth music via iPhone, and watching a dvd.

Once I turn the ignition off and back on it resets and works normally. But then after a half hour or hour it freezes again.

Has anyone experienced this?

I've experienced it resetting on long road trips when driven 8 plus hour consecutively.
You may want to do a search for water intrusion here in the threads.
I ended up replacing my windshield cowl, radio issues stopped after that.

I had that years ago (same 2016) disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and reconnected it, and it has not happened since. I have no idea what caused it.

See my issue:

Not sure if same as yours. Remedy for my issue: replace the infotainment unit. My issue was under factory warranty. Otherwise, it is $$$$$$.

Good luck.

I just had my screen lock up near the end of a three hour drive in rain. 2021, 98,000-miles. I took a video showing it not responding to dash and steering wheel controls, before shutting down. Restarted and it works normally.

Warranty is almost over, and likely it won't happen for the dealer mechanics, hopefully the video will be enough for a warranty claim.

Odd thing: I tried tapping the nav display, and turning down the radio volume while driving. Several minutes later the screen responded to the tap, and volume went down. But no further responses.

And the phone video didn't work. I'll get this complaint in the system anyway, so if it continues hopefully it will be under warranty

This is most likely water affecting the passenger A-pillar electrical connectors or the amp under the passenger seat from ingress via either:
- sunroof and plugging drains for the same
- cowl seal to windshield leaking via the HVAC inlet
- roof rack (especially an aftermarket one or a conversion back to stock for a 2nd hand sale) leaking at the supports
- recent windshield replacement and either broken/poor install of the cowl and seal leak per above or clips at the a-pillars for the black trim or not properly glued in place

First thing to check are the A-pillar main wire loom connectors for signs of corrosion from water ingress.

Thanks. Stock and original so far, other than ARB front bumper.
