I got the winch panel from 12voltguy.com and had a local metal fab shop whip up a little angled housing for it.

The big panel is from 12voltunlimited.com

Awesome work. I love how clean and functional it is. Five Stars.

- You'll want something to provide charging to the charging end of the OTG Y cable. You could theoretically just use the USB powered hub, but it's better to go with something that outputs more amps to allow for fast-charging. I used Amazon product ASIN B00I3P6QQGView attachment 1040706

- I also used this DCDC converter (just operating in 12V regulated mode) since it has an ignition source option for auto installations. There are probably cheaper ways to go, but this was a nice piece:
Amazon product ASIN B005TX3M1MAmazon.com: DCDC-USB, Intelligent DC-DC converter with USB interface; Convert any Voltage (6-34VDC) into ANY Voltage (5-24VDC) from your Computer under USB control. High current, up to 10A; Driver and example programs available: Electronics

The original Nexus 7 2013 charging cable provides 5.2V 1.35 amps, correct? Would this first item you listed here only supply 1.2 amps to the Nexus 7? If this is true, can you give input to how quickly/well it charges from the 1.2 amp supply while being used in the vehicle?

I am not experienced in setting up something like this. Did you tie the input of the first item here to the output of the DCDC converter so that charging of the Nexus 7 can be toggled by the ignition switch of the vehicle or is there another way to toggle the charging of the tablet based on the ignition switch without the DCDC converter?

Also, I know you chose to power the Nexus 7 via USB instead of wireless charging. Do you see drawbacks to supplying power to the tablet via a wireless charger mounted to the back of it (other than slower charging I presume)?

Thanks in advance!

Using an Andoird based tablet is a great idea, but what about start-up time?
I'm guessing the tablet isn't on all the time and cold start-up takes longer than just a simple double-din radio.

You're better today just using an Android based double din unit. Lots of them have larger screens and even the Chinese ones have pretty decent quality, scanner integration, etc.
