This wasn't my (or all the other 200 Series folks) experience with 200 Series evap stuff. High heat, elevation, 12 hours on the trail, ect... it just threw a code on initial startup, you clear the code with a $9 OBDII reader, you're on your way with no issues.

No brake issues either. AFAIK that's only a 100 series thing. Starter is occasionally reported but they update the P/N with an improved design. Same with the radiator. That said it's in the service intervals to inspect the coolant system. They generally don't just blow up randomly. It shows warning signs. It's not like BMWs where the intervals literally require you to replace everything that's coolant system related every 60k-100k depending on the model.

💯 correct, I was indeed digging into the j100, despite it to be my fav LC to drive from the stable. I could repeat a similar litany about the FZJ80 I had too, from the show floor, but I literally and figuratively would be digressing. My FJ80 OTOH, stupidly solid, stupidly slow. I do "feel" the 200s really only had the cooling system/radiator (which is at least reasonably PM'able) problems in terms of true aggregated patterns of premature failure. (⬅️ maybe weak CVs and high oil burn (diesel) if you look worldwide?)

Alas, let's bring this back to the 300. Way to early of course to identify any weakness/patterns. I do hope it is a great LC, but again doesn't really matter because TMNA know better and we won't have them on our shores anytime soon. (No, no, not LX).

Univ. of Tennessee, Knox used to be dry. It didn’t stop anything lol, we were named best party school for years. Anyone ever been to a game or partied before one at Neyland?

Can this tailgate support 2 people? I love that they thought to include that. We plan to head far off road someday and the tailgate will allow us to sleep in the truck and hang our legs out.
I hope that party school vibe changed! 😀My daughter is playing it smart and going to UT next fall since we live in Knox. Huge campus and love the Neyland football experience.

I used to do a lot of business in Knoxville, we partied pretty heavily down town and a large portion of those out and about were college coeds haha.

Turbos are great..... if you know how to care for them.

A 2" turbo and smaller can turn over 180,000 rpm (my family made them in the 60s). No blipping of the throttle until some temperature movement allows the warming oil to properly lube the turbo bearings. Letting the engine idle for a few minutes after pulling off the interstate allows the exhaust manifold and thus the turbine side of the turbo to cool down and not coke the oil on the shaft of the turbocharger.

Have never seen that advice in any owner's manual. But you learn it from the mechanics that have to fix the results of not doing those simple steps.

Water cooled turbos do not really need that in normal driving. Yeah, when you romp on it and make it glow red, it would be good to let it run and cool down. But not in normal driving, that's myth and waste of fuel.

None of my diesel road vehicles or farm tractors had water cooled turbo chargers. Thus my experience.

Welcome, hope she likes it.

I am UT Alum but never go down there. I was lucky enough to grow up with season tickets to all Vols home games..... I've had my fix. I still enjoy a game every few years but with TV tech and A/C and my not wanting 100,000 other wasted people in my face I usually stay home lol.

Thanks! We love going to the Vols games for the 1st half and occasionally stay if the game is neck to neck. They put on an amazing halftime show. If it’s an evening game, the fireworks are pretty dang impressive for a college football.

Toyota is expected to begin selling a Crown sedan in the U.S. this year, replacing the Avalon, and will bring a hybridized SUV to the U.S. under the nameplate in 2023 to replace the Land Cruiser.

Toyota Crown's reign expands with new SUV, sedan - https://www.autonews.com/cars-concepts/toyota-crowns-reign-expands-new-suv-sedan

Oh jeez, heads are gonna start exploding.
I can’t wait to hear how many times the word “deal breaker” gets used responding to this news 😂

A replacement for the Land Cruiser? Color me highly skeptical. It has a very high bar to reach in order to live up to that billing.

Depends on what they mean by replacement but sounds like it's not a land cruiser. Just a more expensive luxury SUV than the Sequoia? Otherwise, much easier to just say "bringing the land cruiser back in 2023"

The "new" Sequoia will have the hybrid drive trains of the Tundra (currently 3 choices) with more gears in the "23 model year . They have already pushed the price of the V8 model to Land Cruiser numbers and above. It was WAY past time since 2007 to change the body design and go to more than 6 gears in the transmission.

Finally had the first tow run with the Land Cruiser and 2015 Airstream 23D International Serenity. Had the Firestone in coil air bags at 18psi and the auxiliary gas tank full. Trailer was at 6,069 pounds and 915 pounds tongue weight. Within ten miles of home I started into the mountains around Phoenix going northeast to Lakeside to an Airstream only RV park. There are many multi-mile 6% grades up and down. Had premium (91 octane) and averaged 8.7 mpg for the 140 miles. The engine had to "learn" the shift modes for the mountains and got good at it by the time I got to the destination.

Very pleased with this towing combination.

Hopefully they keep the GX body on frame.
