BMAN, goodtimes and Offroader5 are probably the only ones that will care.....

I've got more detailed shots if anyone's interested.

This is the most action it's seen so far.....ran out of travel on the hoist.

Sean

Sorry, didn't realize I'd posted some of these in the "introduce yourself" thread.

Sean

So waht are those three circles on the back end of the rig? Exhaust?

Those are to keep that rear panel from blowing off at 120 mph. :flipoff2:

Is that all the flex you got?! meh! :grinpimp:

What makes you think the rest of us aren't interested? Thats a pretty sweet rig. Have you been building it yourself? But really though, you need to ditch the J33P hood. Maybe you could give it to John.:D

Nah...he just needs to finish the damn thing! How long has the toyota (which donated the drivetrain, for those who didn't know) been out of service?

Answer: Way too damn long!!!!!

Seriously Sean, when is it going to finally going to get to taste the rocks?

Beats me.....I'm hoping for December....but it all depends. I leave for Hawaii for a few weeks in the interim and I've still got reassembly to do before I can wire it. There's not a lot of reassembly, but it seems like it takes a lot longer than expected with EVERYTHING on this buggy. Hell, it was so bad earlier this summer, I considered selling it incomplete. I had some seriously stupid offers for it, I can only imagine the insanity will go up with the paint (that is, until I take it out and tear it up ;) ).

The Toy's been out of service for 3 years in May of next year. I started this nightmare 3 years ago in February. You're right....it's taken WAY TOO LONG. I just hope the end result will be worth the wait.

Ya, I'm guessing it'll flex a lot more as I've got several inches of uptravel left in the coilovers and a great deal more downtravel left in the opposing corners....but it's kinda hard to tell. I may end up raising the front some to get a more balanced amount of travel in the front coilovers. As is, I've only got 4.5" or so of uptravel in the front 14" travel shocks.....that should still translate to at least 32" of wheel travel (at least it did in my Toy). If it flexes as much as the Toy did in front, I'd be happy with it, especially since the rear is much more balanced and will flex a lot more than the Toy did. Too much flex can be a bad thing if it's not useable.

To answer your question: yep, built it from scratch. The only thing I've had help with so far is setting up a pulley on the engine for the full hydro pump.....I'll need help with the wiring too (and the paint was done by pros).

Don't like the hood/grill huh? Well, I haven't found anything I like better on a buggy except a ZJ Grand Cherokee set up from Twisted Customs, but I'd already bought this one. If someone had made a good looking Toy set up with fiberglass, I'd have gone that route. I just didn't care for the FJ40 look as much.....even though I LOVE landcruisers....I just thought this one looked better. Besides, none of the guys I wheel with can call their vehicles "Jeeps" "Toyotas" or anything else. They're all mutts. IMO, brand loyalty is kinda stupid at the point we're at where so little is from a single manufacturer.

It looks like an angry skeleton...I like it!

Nice! Did you get it all the way to a running state before you tore it down, or are you waiting to take care of all the little things like vac/fuel/coolant lines in the reassembly?

Yeah right, even if he did decide to go with a Toy front clip on that and gave me the libby version...that's the only piece I would have to call a rock buggy for a very long time. Hmmm...as I think of what my Cherokee would look like pinched in the front.....;p

I like the little windows in the kick panels

So, which LED's did you end up with to use for the rock lights? Did you stick with the Luxart one's? I need to see those things in action...they sound like they are really bright.

Are you running air bumps on that?

Nope, didn't get it actually running.....still needed to be wired and finish welded in some places I couldn't get to with the drive train in the chassis.

Yep, went with the Luxart ones. I hope they give out enough light in a wide enough pattern to work well.....I'll just have to wait and see.

No air bumps....just some of the big 4.5" tall ones. Didn't really have room (or $$$) for the air bumps.
