I am new for both LC and Escalade, never own them before. Now, I am thinking to buy a SUV to replace my miniVan. I saw a 07 LC and a 07 Escalade, both are ~30k miles and ~$40k. Any suggestion to choose? Thanks a lot.

the esv or the tahoe size? I had an 08 ESV before and after. I had an o6 Lexus lx 470 and then n 08 esv now drive an 05 Land Cruiser. The 100 series is way better for getting around town, not so much bling and off road there is just no comparing the 2. My esv although it was 4x4 was never good offroad, I tried once. The Caddy was the best road trip hwy car I ever had though. Kids loved the 2nd row buckets and you could fit so much in the thing it was a tank. We could cruise at 90 all day and never have a sence of speed. It was alittle flashy for me but it had those 22" rims. Had a great motor sound, sold mine a few months back with 15k miles for 43k fyi hard loaded except for the moving side steps and blk on blk. You can call my car wholesaler Sanje and he can find you one. I also took out the weather tech mats before I sold it so if you end up with one drop me a line and we can work something out.

welcome to MUD!

no doubt which truck will be favored here :D, but aside from that, the answer is pretty obvious... :)

If going off-road is in your plans, then it's a rout for the LC...

If you plan on keeping it a long time (more than 2-3 years), then it's a rout for the LC...

If you'll never go off-road and you aren't going to keep it past the warranty, drive both and buy what feels good...

X2!!!

The Caddy is a nice plush pimpin' ride, but is an entirely different vehicle. I have a buddy with an 08 with 24" rims and it's a comfy vehicle to ride in. Way more bells and whistles than the LC...heated AND cooled front AND rear seats, nicer sound system, blah, blah. The LC is a bulletproof (well almost!) truck built to last 300K worth of hard working miles.

Thank you, guys. Is $40k for a 07 LC with 30k miles reasonable?

you can have this...................... or the escalade. choose wisely :flipoff2:

I would use this thread to do research on the AHC system. My LX 470 has been through 7 sensors, a set of accumulators a shock, three tilt steering motors, a premature failure on the front bearings and a total rebuild on both rear breaks. it has been to the dealer over 32 times. it is 9 years old. It has been garage kept and never driven off road. Good luck if you get one. I am in the process of trying to decide what vehicle will be the replacement to this truck. I really did not get what I had hoped for from this Toyota! When the truck is working it is a good truck to drive and the wife feels safe because it is a tank.

WOW! Sorry for all the issues you've experienced. However, that is in no way normal for a LC or LX. A few have certainly had an issue here and there, but those systems have in general been very robust. Most of the AHC issues have come from people pushing the system beyond the weight it was designed for with heavy duty bumpers, sliders, etc. just my $.02.

I would stop going to the dealer! ;)This stuff doesn't happen if you change your own oil.

While it sounds like a lemon from your description. It also sounds like you have had service performance issues requiring return trips to the service bay. Not typical of the 100.

Not sure about the Escalade with all it's fancy features but the Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban line is above average in dependability and not a crazy choice like a Armada, Range Rover or Toureg.

I personally won't buy a GM product new or used until they aren't government controlled.:frown:

help on purchasing a LC

I saw a 07 Certified LC at a dealer who is 200 mile away. Since it is certified I don't want to waste a trip to see the car before I buy it, so what should I ask before I decide to buy it? and what should I know from the dealer?
Thanks for any suggestion.

don't get too excited about the Certified status. It really is nothing much more than a fairly cursory inspection, usually. There may be repercussions on the warranties available, however.

anything GM is goin to start to have major problems most likely at about 100,000 miles. even though the caddy may have more bells and whistles the cruiser will last you much longer and you will like it more in the long run.

Looks like most of you prefer LC than Escalade, and even some people from Escalade forum also recommend LC. Now I need help on the price. Is $40k reasonable for a certified 07 LC with 36k miles, KBB retail price is $41k. Thanks a lot.

I went to the NADA site; 30K is a low end trade value with no options. So if it has some nice extras and is in good condition 40 sounds like it has some wiggle room. A clean retail price with no options is upwards of 38K or so.

Note: This is with zero options, 35K miles, and is based on a Jacksonville Florida zipcode.

Thanks Harb. It has navigation.

Just saw a certified 07 Sequoia at dealer's lot. It has 37k miles, NAV,and DVD, ask for $37k. It's about $3k cheaper than the LC I have seen. How does Sequoia compare to LC?
