Okay dumb question time. I did a search here and on Pirate for the answer. My question is: what do I have to do to put a 79 FJ40 disk axle under my 73? Any steering issues to deal with or does it all bolt up? What about brake lines, any issues there? Also, any problems with the driveshafts working together? I am getting the axle this weekend and I need to know if I need to gather anything else up. Thanks!

It bolts up.

You need to swap thirds tho since the 79 should have 3.7 gears and the other has 4.1's. Plus then your pinion flange won't change.

You need to address the brake master and pull the little plastic thingie to NOT hold line pressure - pull the fluid cup, the big nut below that, and you'll see it in there - penny sized with a tiny spring under it. ONLY the front/larger system tho.

I bet the hard lines to the front axle swap sides, so might need some reroute work there.

No steering changes at all.
