I just recieved my first cruiser as my first truck. Im a 16 year old kid that is still in high school. I dont have a lot of money to spend but i want to get bumpers, a winch, and a lift for it. The lift will probably have to come later, but i want to put the biggest tires i can on it with the stock suspension. How big of a tire can I fit on it. Im lookin for a mud terrain tire. Any suggestions?

tires: 285's fit stock (33") and look good with the 2.5" OME lift as well
bumper: quite a few options out there, all with plusses and minuses...figger $750ish for the front, another $750-1200 for the winch, and another $1000-1500 for a rear bumper...and fer all that, it's silly to not do sliders too, add another $750ish for those.
so, take $5k outta yer pocked and start shoppin

I agree with E9999, don't fall for the flashy/pseudo rugged look thats more for the heep guys. Concentrate on keeping your rig running smoothly first than spend on a lift and tires.

Start with base lineing the truck make sure you dont have any issues before you start your upgrades or you will be in for a lot of summers fliping burgers to pay for your maintenance issues. Plus what good is a great looking truck that cant make it down the road safely. Trust me these trucks are great but they do cost $$$ to fix unless you do it yourself (sometimes twice.)

Remember that going to bigger tires mean less mpg, more gas money so unless you have gas card with a bottomless budget keep the tires stock 275's.

Seriously, you need to develop a plan based on your resources and your goal for the vehicle. I know this sounds like homework but it truly is a good idea and, if your parents are helping with the funding, they will be duly impressed.
Lay out your goals for the truck with an associated cost and time-line. Note whether you can do the work yourself or if you will need help or have to hire a trained mechanic.
Example: (Not real costs)
Goal to have 35" MT/R's with appropriate armor.
Plan:
OME "J" lift ............. $1,000 ....... April 2006
5 new tyres............ $1,000 ....... May 2006
Slee Sliders........... $800 ......... June 2006
ARB....................... $800 .......... July 2006
Warn M12000.......... $1,100 ....... Aug 2006
Slee Rear bumper... $1,800 ....... Nov 2006
You should also make preparations in the event the above stategy backfires and they repo the truck and drop you off at a homeless shelter with a sign around your neck with a phony name on it.
