Not bad for 16 years old, way ahead of the learning curve.

I second the sentiment that FAQ is your friend, and that chat is not. Also, check out the ROTW's for inspiration, and some great innovations that you can shamelessly rip-off.

I haven't posted much here on MUD, but damn, I've read alot, and that's probably the best thing a newbie can do.

Welcome dude! :flipoff2:

Learn to drive....

If I had it to do over again at yuor age, young buck, I would go slower and listen harder. Find your local TLCA affiliated club, join it, and listen and learn. Youth, Beer, and Testosterone do not a good driver make. Get the bumper sticker from the vendor here that says "4wd is no substitute for brains", put it on in several places and get embarassed when you act as though you have none. Tire size, lift, lockers, all mean nothing compared to being smart and safe about the trail. Just don't ask me how I know this......

Welcome! :flipoff2:

I speak from newbie experience. First look at all items that effect daily use.
Plugs, wires, cap & rotor, air filter, belts, all fluids, brakes, PHH , hoses etc....etc. Make sure all is button up tight.

Establish a knowledge base for your new ride. Once you do this then tackle the fancy stuff. Nothing worse than not having confidence in the reliability column.

Trust me you well spend plenty just doing the above pm. It is a great learning experience and you will appreciate how will these trucks are put together.

I second the comment read everything here on the site. It is very habit forming and quite entertaining.

Good luck.

As has been said, baseline your truck (especially the PHH). $35 of prevention could have prevented $600 at the stealership. Thus endeth the sermon. Welcome aboard. :flipoff2:

 Screw the FAQ. Get 35" tires. Order a full Slee lift set up with your parents credit card. Go smoke a joint! Just tell them you succombed to peer pressure, they can't kill you (legally).

Welcome!:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

(Oh yes, ingore anything I post.)

awsome first truck, i know. heed this advice maybe.

wait a couple of months before doing any major modifications. i know, sadly not what you want to hear. its a fact (and yes ive proved it and so have 99% of my friends) that most new drivers will get into an accident sometime in the 6 months after they get their liscense. I dont know how good of a driver you are, (im sure your fine) but please dont take your truck for grantid. luckly mine wasnt serious. some guy backed out of a parking space and i admit i was trying to find a parking spot and wasnt really looking. it was at 3 mph, and it didnt do anyhting to my lc, but i busted out his tail light. (amzingly, the light i hit didnt work anyways, and he already had the new one in his truck. meaning no $ i had to spend and it was a qucik "dont worry about it" and we were both on our way (okay a little more chat than that, i handled it responsibly but thats the jist of it))

also. friends are brutal when you have an lc in highschool. yes, they will call it a land rover. dont defend your landcruiser, they dont really care what its called. smile and nod. they may read the back of it and realize what its called, but honestly it dosent matter. its a nice truck.

remember that your car is probably better than anybody elses car in the whole school. dont brag about it. be modest. you dont have to answer how you got it, but be thankful that you do have it.

also remember that the guys with the "trucks" have nothing on you. even if yours is stock and they have the 6" lift and the 35's. yours is still better.

if you dont mind walking. park in the back row (or close to it) most high schoolers SUCK at driving. even in a parking lot when all the cars are standing still. be as far away from them as possible.

if you like to mud and like to show it off, thats fine. leave the mud on for 1 DAY and 1 DAY only if you drive to school. wash it off before you go the next day, or else your just showing off.

okay ive covered a few things...there are more probably. but most of all. dont spend too much time on your rig. really. school is way more important. life is tough

Welcome.

Do remember that your vehicle sold new for north of 40 thousand dollars. Replacement parts are not, and never will be, cheap. Excercise caution and do not break anything unless your billfold can stand the hit. You will be spending enough for fuel and insurance anyway.

:flipoff2:

Oh and what Doug said X2..........

I'm in high school right now with my 93 LC. Don't let everyone think that because you have a nice big truck that they can just pile in there with you and you can drive them every where, I got that alot. You lock all the doors, crack open that window and make sure they slip you some $$$ for gas. Unless there all females..... :D

This thread is useless without pics.
Cheers and Welcome,
Sean

Whatever you do, don't listen to me unless I am drinking.
Then everything will make sense to me.
