Axle pics

rear axle is centered diff Dana sumthin, 30-spline, with minitruck shafts/flanges and brakes

front is likely minitruck outers, not Cruiser. (insignificant difference)

How much did you pay for this?

is that some type of locker in the rear?
is the rear tube welded or is it a press fit?

front no wipers on knuckle, no caliper, how is the steering hooked up?

looks like vented rotors but no brakes at all on the rig?

I would like to met the guy who did this work. It actually looks like it would work. if all the pieces were there
and thats the stock steering pup.

Any axle shop can handle the work... I know there are several here in Utah that do similar conversions, though usually the opposite direction... Mini/LC diffs with 44/60 knuckles. There are several companies that use a Ford 9" center with the D60 knuckles... Just a matter of spending the money...

Thanks for the updates. It is nice being in a forum where people respond with ideas so quickly. I just located a local fabricator who is going to help me strech the wheelbase and modify these axles. Sounds like he knows his s***. He builds race cars, 4x4's that take flight, and rock buggies. I bought my truck for $6k. It came with Aqualu tub, firewall, tailgate, windshield, and fender flares. New 350 hp LT1, new TH350, rebuilt NP205, new 4" lift springs, and all other interior, exterior, electrical, and mechanical parts. Now that the body panels are all on and all rivet nuts have been drilled and set...this truck could possibly be complete in about a 5 weeks. This is a part time project for me.

Looks and sounds like a decent find. I suspect what the PO did with the front axle was take a rear D60 std rotation axle and fabbed on the cruiser/mini truck knuckles. Both would be 30spline and cheap to do along with retaining the 6 lug hubs.

Depending on your plan, I personally would run that setup and only change to longfields instead of birfs. Modifing the front axle to be truely D60 with knuckles and hub will cost a lot of money better spent elsewhere. The rear axle looks good as well. Going back to cuiser stuff is not an upgrade and probably a wash strength wise. Only gain would be about 1.5-2.5" of diff clearance, and not worth the trouble, just add bigger tires. I say run with them axles and just fix the pinion/caster angles. I probably would keep it SUA, put some tires on it and wheel it. Save your cash until you really get crazy with link suspension and 40+ size tires.

looking at the pic of the front right, where is the relay rod?

The tie rod will not be fabricated until the knuckles are rotated to the proper angle.

Any thoughts from you guys on converting the rear 87 Toy pickup drums out to rear discs? Will the caliper bracket shown in pdf format on the technical links page work with minitruck 4 bolt flanges?

Is it me or is that a Ford centersection?? (high pinion)

Mini disc stuff will bolt right up..

that rear end center section looks like a front end center section ( has a spring perch casted into it!)

very wierd set up

not wierd at all. think about it. If that is a front center chunk (has to be DS drop) then it is probably a ford unit. Which pretty much means that it is a high pinion..

having a high pinion rear axle is a nice thing..

Keep talkin...I'm learning new stuff by the day.

Yes that sure looks like a high pinion ford center, with a detroit carrier...

Good luck!

No, that mounting pattern is for the 1980 and earlier Land Cruiser rear axle...

Somewhere in the sea of mis-information there is a mini truck links list that has a drawing of caliper brackets for the mini...I have seen it, cannot find the link...

Good luck!

That is what I figured. I converted my stock rear drums on my last truck and the bracket I made from drawings a guy sent me looked identicle. Do you know where I might get the drawings for the correct brackets to fit a mini flange? I have access to a CNC and a host of other fun metal fab toys.

Miss this part...
