Only problem is fuel cost but I wont drive a small unsafe car.
Ditto; one side of my brain says, get some little car that gets great mpg; the other side says, no, you don't want to get squished.
I recall many years ago one of my physics professor discussing this very point in class; bottomline, the guy with the most mass wins.
When my cruiser was sick last winter during a trip I was forced to rent a Hyundai 4WD (the big one, forget the name), brand new 2006/7 maybe 1500 miles on the odo. A complete POS, totally underwelmed; Bumpy jouncy ride, tinny feel to everything, touchy steering, funky handling, etc, etc.
Then I get back into my "old" 80 with 200K+ on it; back home again
floating down the highway, feeling much more secure. Priceless.
