Well here I am! Proud owner of a new (to me) 1984 BJ42! I've wanted something like this since before I could drive, and it's finally sitting in my driveway, still hard to believe:clap: I was a die hard Jeep fan (never an owner) and finally made the decision to go ahead with one, but after about ten seconds of looking at a photo of this one, and within about fifteen minutes looking at it in real life I knew I had to have it, and a jeep just wouldn't do it. Haven't looked back since! She's in pretty good shape, not too bad on the rust but there is definitely some that needs attention. This baby features a rebuilt engine, new headers, pistons, other stuff that goes in engines...(I'm still working on learning everything, and this seems like a great place to do it. So if I say something stupid, call me on it please!)

Anyway, she's stock under the hood with a 3b diesel and an (H55?) 5 speed tranny. Full OME suspension all the way around, greasable shackles, Dakar leaf springs. The 33" BFG's pretty much finish off the aftermarkets that I've noticed. A few things I'd like to do include a snorkel, turbo kit, paint/body work, maybe lockers, and definitely a roof rack. Just took the roof off today as it's finally summer here:beer:

Nice find, looks great. Jeeps are nice, people here will slam me for it, but they do not compare to the uniqueness and quality of a land cruiser. the quality and details that went into the land cruisers make them worth it. I just happened into one as my first vehicle and have always loved them ever since. Post lots of pics, I love seeing all the pics on this site. Entertains me while I am waiting for it to cool down so I can start rebuilding mine.

NICE!!, IMHO the 84 BJ42 is the Holy Grail of landcruisers. Welcome :flipoff2: (official salute). This is a great site, check out the FAQ and the diesel section, lots of great info here. I have an 81 BJ42 and absolutely love it so I know where you're coming from. Enjoy.

Thanks for the welcome! The longer I have it the more people tell me it's a good one, so I'm pretty stoked about the decision!
She leaks a bit of oil, but it doesn't look too bad. A coworker noticed a leak out of the tranny, so I pulled of the skid plate today, and it's just a wild guess, but looks to be from the lack of a filler plug/bolt. That would probably explain the crazy clanging sound I heard last weekend while heading north to go camping! The bolt probably fell out and bounced against the yoke or something

Nice shorty mate, welcome to the landcruiser addiction :flipoff2:
There is heaps of info here and in the dieseltech sections to consume your time. You can't go wrong with a 40. :D
