Hey everyone..... Traded my land rover discovery for a 65 fj40 with a 2f and a 4speed with about 31s on it, has about a 100k on the engine, runs well, I use it as my daily driver. I have had a 75 bronco and 3 samurais, but this is my first land cruiser. Like it so far. Just put in roll bar and seat belts and am in the process of doing some sanding, priming and painting. Body is in decent shape except for the 15 different colors of paint, the top is a little rough in some spots, but its awesome.....

i'm no old timer, but that doesn't mean i can't be the first to welcome you. what made you decide that trade? LR's are a little shinier than your cruiser. why not a series III or D90? .....Good choice ;p

:flipoff2:Welcome!:flipoff2: Great older 40 you got there. Rattle can it one color and you'll be amazed how much better it will look.

Welcome to the sickness, you will be spending more time on that fj than that other rig for sure.

Welcome to MUD ... :flipoff2:

He uses it as his DD, enough said!

very cool! I'm down in Eugene and learning the in's-out's of my recent '65 purchase. Looks like your top is newer. PM me if you ever want to compare notes...

Plans are probably pretty typical....Power steering, disc brakes, spoa ( but do you have to cut and rotate the housing? Why not just weld them on after you rotate it to better the pinion angle?) Yj or tj flares and stuff 33-35s on it with some black crawler rims. Herculiner the inside and maybe the top of the hard top. Also someday find a cheap top and make a half cab out of it because those are sweet.

Welcome.

You cannot just rotate the axle housing to improve the pinion angle without effecting the caster angle.....

Welcome, Looks a little familiar. I have a 65 that came with very similar chrome rims and the tow attachment as well. I also have a newer top. I'd post up a recent pic but it's in a thousand pieces right now.

i got a 68 with the Crawler rims and some 34's...nicely done! fix that bezel sucka!!!!
