I cant even remember if mine had an interior light. Were they located on the side pillar beside the drivers seat (RHD) like the later models.

Mine mounts above the drivers head (rhd) on the internal hardtop gutter.

That's a start Martyn. What are the plans. Full frame restoration??

Take it from me. Put the tub away and start on the chassis and everything that needs to be done there(brakes, swivel hubs, suspension etc. then if needed motor and gearbox. Once all that is done then start on the tub and the rest of the panels. Are you getting the chassis sandblasted and painted.

I've done a bunch of engine stuff (full service, electronic ignition, etc) all of the steering components, most of the suspension, all brake work. Kind of need to get the tub and chassis up to speed now. The truck only has 70,000 odd original miles so while a lot of the plastic, rubber and high wear items are stuffed, mechanically it's pretty amazing. Also I only have 1 rust hole the size of my little finger nail under the lower windscreen rubber. Not too bad for 45 years.

I have bought a sand blasting cabinet so have been working through the small parts.
Here are a few pictures of recent progress.

Long time no update

Beginnings of steering assembly.
I have the rebuilt diff head inside the restored housing on the restored frame. Front axles in and now the swivel hubs to go.
Excuse the mess. The last couple of weekends I’ve had my little helper along for the ride so when the attention window closes I’m out of time.

It’s pretty funny reading back over this thread. I wish I had taken more pictures when I first bought it. I guess I was just too keen to get into this project.
Years later and I’ve been super slack on updates but things are progressing.
Pics to come soon, now that momentum is building.

Some progress

I have a decent job list to go but I’ve made a concerted effort to use any spare time working to have this on the road this year.
The hardtop sides and lift gate are away being unstitched and straightened out.
I need to pull the front diff because if I try to do up the nut at the driveshaft flange the diff wont turn. Maybe I forgot the crush sleeve thing or maybe the lash is way out ( I don’t know).
I also need to put the carburetor together, sort out some possible grounding issues in the wiring, assemble the handbrake drum, align the body panels properly and shift the body on the chassis a little as it’s not quite square.
Every part has been rebuilt or replaced and it’s been rabbit hole after rabbit hole.
Needs an exhaust too. I have the muffler in so just need a down pipe and tail pipe. Many other little bits and pieces to assemble and fit.
I’ll try and document this last stretch better than the first 3/4 of the build.
