If I put new wheels on, with sensors, do they have to be "coded" at the dealer or a tire installer that has the correct LC TPMS settings? I'm looking at a dedicated winter wheel:tire set up (likely Blizzaks)

Thx

Short answer is: yes.

Longer answer is: not necessarily. Speak with your tire installer and see if they can set up some cloned tire sensors for you. If they do that, you should be able to swap wheels and the truck will recognize those sensors as 'real' and read them. Then all you'd need to do when swapping every season is run the TPMS reset procedure with the button under the dash. The procedure is outlined well in the owner's manual.

Or ... you can choose not to install TPMS's at all. The light on the dash is easy to ignore ;)

put a little electrical tape over the light - its cheap

I run two sets of cloned-sensor wheels in addition to the stock combo. No need to reset anything though it is possible if one set has pressure parameters considerably different than the others that this would precipitate a need to reset. This is brought on by the low-tire-pressure logic in the TPMS.
