Joined forum after searching for information on 2UZFE engine. Read post from 2001LC (if I remember correctly) and directed me to mud.
So I bought an 08 4Runner with a known bad 2uz vvti. Previous owner states his mechanic says bent valves. Truck does start but stalls after 15-20 sec. Sounds like it’s running on 4 cylinders. Compression test confirmed left bank out. Removed parts down to timing belt which was intact. In the process of pulling engine. All fluids drained, radiator out, AC compressor and power steering pump off, main harness to ecu disconnected, heater hoses, wiring to fuse box disconnected, motor mounts sprayed and loosened, bell housing bolts cracked loose. With starter tucked under intake I’m assuming I need to go there next? Also any other wiring besides transmission harness?
Not a lot of information b/c engine seems to go forever.
-just not this one…….yet!
Any specific steps with removing this engine would be greatly appreciated.
