Hello guys,

I just bought myself a second hand 2014, LC200 5.7L V8. I live in Dubai and have loved sand dune bashing and overlanding the last few years with my FJ cruiser. This time around I’m going to build a good proper overland rig with my new car.

Hope this forum helps me find good products with the right reviews.

Thanks again & Cheers

Congrats! I've always loved that color.

Are the front and rear bumper additions likely to stay? Will they survive dune bashing? Also how common is the 5.7 over there? I seem to remember reading a bunch still had 4.7s or 4.6..

No. They are coming right off. I’m gonna trim the bumpers and install bashplates with a tubular design. I just bought some fuel off-road rims. Gonna install them along with a 2.5” lift and a 285/70/r17. So the stock 18” rims are going into storage.

The 5.7L is one of 3 options you get here. I would say the 4.6L V8 petrol and the 4.0L V6 petrol is the most common. It was a long wait for me until I could find a 5.7L V8 in the second hand market.

Good call holding out for the 5.7.. it is a great engine.

When you get this thing in the dune post some action shots. Pretty different than the stuff we have here in the states, but great to see a cruiser doing its thing on yet another kind of terrain.

Oh dont worry about finding products, its the overwhelming quantity and choices that is the problem here! :)

Will do brother.
You’ll see me posting often or atleast asking for reviews. Cheers.

@sandynthesky are you familiar with ddr performance? They did an lx intake that i have some questions on regarding parts…

I just went through their website. It looks pretty good. Would you recommend them? Over a snorkel kit??

From what i can see yeah i would. They look like they do quality work, i just haven’t been back to dubai since covid. I need to ask them about the front bumper that was on a nasty 570 they did recently. I would like to import it if possible.

Snorkel kit is a different topic and i dont think its very necessary generally but if you are seeing a lot of dust then it has its place given you can have a pre filter. For water crossings, well lets just if you’re going to do that to your truck its not going to last long anyway so yolo i guess. It can already cross water deep enough stock that any deeper is begging for problems. Long term flooding problems and potentially destroy the engine obviously. For the dunes its up to you, i would rather supercharge than snorkel the 5.7.

Here’s an update on my car. After a year, I’ve got :
285/70/r17 fuel rims
Rogue dynamics stage 5 suspensions
Aftermarket Android(dual OS) with Apple CarPlay.
Ironman roofrack.
Bumper chop in the front and back.
Pair of Baja Designs LP4 in the front

My future upgrades I’m looking into include:
Extending range??
1 : 5Gal(19L) x 2 Jerry cans(on the exterior of 3rd row windows)

A little extra horsepowers??
2 : cold air intake + Dyno

A little more MPG(KM/L)??

Any suggestions or previous experience would be extremely helpful.

Thank you.
