What would you guys think of adding a sticky with a list of things to do after becoming a first-time owner of one of these incredible rigs? I have owned my truck for about 9 months and have figured things out with the help of all of you here, but we are getting more and more people buying these trucks and if there was kind of a list of “do right away”, “do soon”, “it can wait, but keep it on your radar” - it might really help new owners.
Thoughts?

While I am never adverse to those types of threads, they tend to veer off course so badly that no one can make beans of what's going on anyway if they didn't already know. All the Prado haters will have to come on,(Never owned one) Then the I knew a guy who knew a guy knowledge shows up,(Can't exactly recall where they knew them from) ,then the 3L head is better guy (Who doesn't actually know why. It's just a bigger number so must be better.),then the I can make 250HP from a 2LTE guys shows up (And argues with the collective knowledge base of people actually successfully modifying their truck.and using simple math to rebut him.)
And, my favorite, doesn't wrench on their own truck in the least but can regal you with tales about which suspension geometry will return the best results.
However, I do love to read those threads. I have spent countless hours going through pages of the most outrageous information known to man. It's like a good car crash, I know I shouldn't look, but I sure am curious.

So, in the end, my vote would be hell yeah. It's been sort of quiet around here lately.

If I can hope to get the kind of entertainment that I just got from that post, it should be awesome.

And BTW, I feel like I am truly a part of this board, because I recognized a bunch of the “guys” you were referencing! 😁

As someone who has written a lot about Prado's on this forum over the last 6 years, I don't think I'd want to see a new more visible thread presenting any miss-information about them. I've tried hard to help people see the good in these trucks. Unfortunately the stuff I (and others) have written is spread through many threads, and it takes a bit of searching to find the gems I guess.

I'm not opposed to a Prado dedicated thread, but I think there is a very good chance that Nas90tdi's prediction about it is totally correct.

I mis-spoke I didn’t mean JUST Prado - meant 70 Series in general.
Maybe I should just start a build thread and list all the things that I have done since acquiring it to get things running the way they should be running .

YES!!! Do the build thread. When new members show up having just bought one of these trucks I try to point them right away to some of the better build threads out there. It's a fun and educational way to learn. Great idea.

(Twisting arm) OK

Ha ha I thought of doing a build thread but my s#*t is pretty rough and I would not want people to copy some of my roughness!
( I do usually go back and clean the stuff up if my wife and kids need to use the wagon)
like the time my wastegate pipe fell off and the wife complained about a big whistle noise and I just said its nothing till I heard it coming up the driveway!

I feel weird doing a build thread because I am still a newb, but perhaps it is good to have the perspective of a new guy modding his vehicle.

Folks have often asked about a FAQ but there are so many different 7x series with so many different variation it was determined it would be more trouble than it's worth. I have an 88 with a 3B. A far cry from a Prado or 1995 HJ79 or whatever.
