Hi all, I'm John and I have a 99 4runner that is going from 2wd to 4wd sas and from crashed to repaired. This build is taking what seems like forever.

Here is how it started :whoops:.

Here is how it sits now, waiting on a body swap :D.

I hope it turns out close to this. Found this pic on pirate (4xguy).

Welcome and looking forward to the build..

Thanks
It will be an auto. I am doing some research on my trans/tcase options. I want to use the A343F with the HF2AV tcase out of latter years of the 80 series Land Cruiser. I also intend to use the LC rear. I used the axle from a 95 LC for the front. After I get the body swap done I will have some more picts. If things go the way I want them to I will end up with a 4runner using a LC drive train minus the engine :bounce:.

Welcome, just remember twice as much money and twice as much time as you planned for! Mike

twice would be nice, i am about 4 times as much money and time into my SAS as i first thought and still not done lol but it does run. remember, once you go that way you will always want bigger and stronger and its a never ending money pit. as long as you arent married it should work :)

what an undertaking!
keep us posted on the progress, problems and solutions you come up with.

Welcome to MUD! Nice project you have going there. I am watching this for any tips as i am trying to find a body of a dbl cab Tacoma for a swap. Where did you locate your 4Runner body? I guess that they are easier to find than Tacoma body. Good luck with the swap. Looks like you have agood start. I love the looks of the 3rd gen. Runner.

The biggest problem so far is that I let someone talk me out of going with coils (my original idea) and using leafs. There is no acceptable steering solution using leaf springs (to me) for the 80 series Land Cruiser axle that I am using for the sas (factory steering should be fine). I guess I could have come up with some home made steering but this rig will be on the hwy more than the trail so it needs to be a proven system.

Thanks. This was my daughters 2wd 4runner before she turned into an oncoming 96 firebird going about 50 mph:whoops:. I am going from 2wd to 4wd sas with body work. I have found it to be difficult to find body/frame parts, they all seem to be smashed in the front or rolled. If I ever get it done it will be sweet.
