here are some pics of the 97 lx450 with 172k I picked up 2 wks ago.
After looking at about 6 cruisers and a few lx450's this was the cleanest by far! Great interior no cracks or tears in leather or dash! Paint was in very impressive condition(except for real sissy named color champagne pearl!) no peeling or significant dents to mention, just a little rust on passenger running board. It had some horrible 20 inch chrome wheels, which i traded out for these black eagle 185 rims and mastercraft 285 tires. The workers at the rim shop were shocked i would trade my chrome 20's for such a boring wheel combo. I guess its true beauty is in the eye of the beholder. FYI Im looking for a push bar and some tail light protective cages if anyone is selling and Im selling a 2004 porsche 996 Turbo cabriolet to help fund my new addiction. Thx again for everyones help and positive comments

I think you just broke cruisergreg's heart...

oh, and congrats on the new wheels...literally and figuratively! 'I' think you you made a good trade.:D

thx , but whos cruiser greg?

Search the 80 section on the main page before you decide to put that "push bar" on your truck, they are called damage multipliers for a reason!!

Nice looking rig by the way, congrats.

To re-say what Daisy said, think twice about a "push bar" or "grille gaurd", if you find one on this form, it will probably be free. Most of everyone here that has had one, is taking it off of their Cruiser they just bought and giving it away. When I bought my '97 I took mine off and tried giving it away. Even left it in the front yard for someone to take, but no takers, until someone here paid shipping to modify it in some way?

They are called damage multipliers because if you run into something with a push bar/grille guard or the taillight cages, you end up doing more damage to your truck than if you didn't have them in the first place. A busted taillight is a lot easier to fix than creased metal around the taillight. Slight damage to a grille or headlight is nothing compared to the extra damage a grill guard will do to your hood and fenders. They're just for looks, not functional. Stay away from them.

Want a cool bumper? Get a Slee and don't look back.

Why didn't you just buy your neighbor's truck? :D

If you are going to armor an 80 then do it right. Proper F&R steel bumpers, real sliders, and leave the light guards for the Land Rover wannabe crowd.

GD nice eye Beo! :D

x2 do it right IMO, no sense cutting corners on these rigs. now if you like the looks of that stuff, well, then do your thing. but it's no more protection than a sandwich bag with a hole in the end. :meh:

he'll pop up. a long time member of the club. he had an 80's 1911.

My brother has a 996 convertible. All things being equal I'd rather drive the Lotus. Only thing I miss about the 911 was the jump seats for the kids.

Agreed - nothing like the torque of a Porsche 6, especially with a turbo. I'm lucky enough to have a Turbo Elise which doesn't have the same kick in the pants of a Porsche but I'm still in the 4 second to 60 range because of the high RPMs with the VVTI (Toyota 2ZZ) I can get. But in the twisties I'll take the Lotus any day.

I do recall feeling like there was only 2 inches between the bottom of my seat and road. Plus the road feel and steering response was incredible. if i dont sell the turbo soon, maybe we can compare and contrast cars head to head?
