Hi everyone! I just picked up a new to me 2005 GX470. I'm coming from a 2000 4Runner which was my daily/fun offroad truck but the transmission gave out and I figured it was time for an upgrade. My friend is a mechanic who used to work for Lexus and now works for Toyota, and had nothing but good things to say about the GX470. I took his word for it and ended up with this one. I love it so far! So many bells and whistles, and a very smooth ride.

Now I have to figure out how to modify it to be able to take it offroad! The chrome 20s have to go, and I still have to figure out what to do as far as lifting it. I had an OME 3" lift on the 4Runner which was great, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to replace the airbag suspension with springs quite yet. I'd live some suggestions and I'll be sure to look for some builds in the forums.

Anways, here are a couple pics of Lexi (I'm sure I'm the first one to name my GX470 that) ;)

Very nice, sir! At the minimum, you will probably want new wheels and all-terrain tires. The good thing is you could pick up a used set of Toyota wheels for cheap and sell the 20's for more.

You can go offroad with a pretty cheap option...
1. Remove running boards
2. Buy a used set of 17" FJ Cruiser alloy rims
3. Buy slightly larger offroad tires
4. Go offroading

But it all depends on how crazy you want to get...look up Lexy Build and DanKunz Build for more ideas.

There are options from mild to wild. Lots of vendors support the gx now so figure out a budget and what you like to wheel and go for it!
